USPS Parcel Post w/ insurance for $400 will be between $25-35 depending on what part of the country it's going to.

Go around to bike shops asking for frame boxes and don't skimp on bubble wrap unless you want to waste two months of your life filing a damage claim with USPS.

Scrod,

Do you, or do you know anyone, who has built up a wheel with a BMX cassette style hub? The gearing options of a 9t are fascinating. I know the spacing is 110mm and I know you'd have to grind out the dropouts, but nothing seems all that prohibitive. Especially if someone out there is making a flipflop with a bmx 9t cassette and a regulation track cog. though, that's a lot of chain to take up, even with a 13t cog.

I didn't know if this was also the case with the Swift and if so, how much lower do you think the post would have to be moved to accommodate the height difference. Thanks.
My Swift is no taller than my Turbo.

Oh, and answer my question in the RG thread.

Half link chains have the same pitch as normal chains.

Sounds a lot cheaper than UPS/FedEx. I loathe waiting in line at the post office, though. Guess I'll just suck it up. Thanks.

Yeah, they sure do, but they bend around cogs with 9 teeth a whole crapton better.

No need. If you have a PayPal account, you can print the label online and schedule for USPS to come pick up the package.

https://www.paypal.com/shipnow

If you don't have a PayPal account, you can print the label from the USPS site

I use a normal chain on my BMX bike, 25-9, and it works just fine. Actually, I use a KMC 410H, so its a bit beefier than normal, and I haven't had any problems with it in like 3 years or so.

You've had a chain for three years?

Nah scrod, reread that.

That was just the last time he had issues with it. He's probably had it longer.

Its on a BMX bike, so it doesn't get a ton of distance on it. And being so beefy, it has a lot of life to it to begin with. Its hardly even stretched since I bought it. The one downside is how damn heavy it is.

Aesthetically they're not my thing but they look cool on the right bike. I built a Chub/Deep V wheel for a customer that is amazingly stiff.
Do you think they're worth the gargantuan price jump from other hubs? I'm 100% happy with my Novatec hubs (so far you have not steered me wrong on any advice or recommendations), but I see myself as one of the few who actually like the way they look.

A Chub really doesn't cost that much more than a Phil Wood. It also weighs a hell of a lot less and has huge flanges, which offer more than just looks.

And because crabon.

You're right. Not as far off as I thought, just $20 more... Haha I guess it'a because in typically in the novatec price range, and never had interest in Phil hubs.

Is the quality/durability just as good?

I've never used a Chub but The Hive doesn't mess around when it comes to overall quality.

Scrod, do you know of any "quick-release" front fenders? I guess the front-fender equivalent of the SKS xtra-dry.

Hi Scrod,

I have one old '89 Specialized Stumpjumper ..It is already SS but i want to change the chainring from 46 to 36. To make it SSCX.
It has old 5 arm Deore cranks.
<<Vintage Sugino Japan 36t 110mm>> chairing would work?

Do I need to make a picture?

Thank you
