You're most likely overtightening the recessed nut when installing it.

even if the whole thing moves?

it doesnt happen with every brake pull but when it does the whole thing gets shifted to the side, as if its actually too loose

Loosen the recessed nut and re-tighten it (without overtightening it) while holding the caliper centered. If it keeps happening, the nut on the front of the caliper may be too tight.

How often do you lube the pivot points? If the answer is never, that's most likely part of your problem.

yeahh about that whole lube thing..lol

loosened and retightened everything and put some lube on them and ill give it a test outside in a little bit

so far it seems a little better

/edit: theyre good, i think the lube was the contributing factor. who knew?

Hey Scrod I'm looking to upgrade my tektro brake pads on my Kilo. I love the salmon Kool Stops but aside from the Dura-Ace one i can't find any other ones. Am I not searching properly or are there comparable ones?
P.S. I can't stop listening to Juggernaut by Cave In what do I do?

hey im in the midst of building up my first bike, and this might be a dumb question but if i buy the 1/8" kmc s-10 stainless steel chain, do i need any other parts or connectors or anything? or does it come with the "master link". if its the wrong length for my bike can the bike shop take links out and stuff to make it fit? i'd assume so but i want to make sure before i order stuff. im gonna be using 46x17 gearing

It'll come with a master link. You should just buy a chain tool while you're at it.

Sorry for not being clear. I just can't find any kool stop pads for road brakes. The ones that show up are usually the dura ace ones. I guess I'll get the DA ones. That was a huge brain deep on my part sorry merciful Scrodzilla it shan't happen again sire

I'm not sure where you're looking but I can easily get several different kinds of Kool Stop pads for road calipers.

FWIW - I think you mean Dura, not Dura Ace:

There is a naming convention for brake pads installed in a serviceable brake shoe. These are the ones that can be taken out by removing a set screw and removing the pad. The first popular brake line that had these cartridge pads was Shimano's Dura Ace, so the pads are sometimes still called that.

Soooo if you have brake shoes that have removable pads, then you want the Dura. /notscrod

How the hell do I use these valve extenders that came with my wheels? It's just a black tube that screws on... How will the valve stay open?

Open the presta valves before installing the extenders and leave them open. There wll be no way to release the air without sticking something down inside them.

A bamboo skewer works real well.

hey scrod quick question I'm about to order my kilo and not sure about size or how the frames run. I'm 5-7 should I order a 50cm or a 53cm wanted to ask you just to be safe.
