My shop is right on a really popular bike route that leads to a road following the coast and sometimes when I'm sitting outside the shop eating lunch or whatever, the spandex superheros riding by all sneer at me - like I'm doing something offensive by simply being there. **** 'em.

There's one little dude who always wears a yellow jersey and feels the need to hammer really hard when he goes by. Whenever the opportunity arises, I like to yell "Go Lance!" or "You got this, Lance!" and I know he gets totally pissed.

If that ever happens I will have even less time to ride my bike.

Scrod, my leader has a squeaky seat post again. I lubed the hell out of it 2 ish months ago and ot was fine but just this week it came back with a vengeance. Would smoothing the inside of the frame with some fine grit sand paper help?

Squeaky seat post? You sure it's not the saddle coming apart ?

Yeah, its a brand new saddle and seat post. It sounds like its coming from where the top tube meets the seat tube.

If it's one of the newer ones, remove the seatpost clamp from the frame and put a thin layer of grease where it installs on the seat tube.

Carbon seat post? If so you should use a carbon specific grease.
Maybe too much torque caused the seat tube to bend ?
Seat post clamp is misaligned ?
Maybe your seat post diameter is incorrect ?
(All of these are coming out of my ass btw)
Only heard squeaky seat posts from old rusty vintage road bikes.

Even more reason to leave it to Scrod, then.

edit: this is what happens when you read a thread and then do other stuff for a bit.

Hey Scrod, I know you had the Cinelli Caleido bar tape on one of your bikes, how did you like it? Would you say you prefer it to Lizard Skins or no?

I love the Caleido tape because it's thicker than other perforated bar tape on the market and feels surprisingly like real leather. Lizard Skins DSP is much grippier but I like them both just about the same.

Operation lubrication was a complete failure. I'm going insane since I rode it into work today and it was like the first day of summer so about 90x more bikers were out on the roads.

Is your seatpost greased inside the frame?

Are you sure it's the seatpost and not the saddle rails? Grease those too, just to rule it out. My Brooks Swift creaks like a mother****er on my Nitto 626 post unless the rails are greased.

I greased everything. You can hear its coming from around the top tube/seat tube merger area.

Did you prime the seat tube before installing your seatpost? If you don't know what I mean, I'm saying you should slightly tighten the clamp while there is no post in the frame, then loosen it and install the seatpost. This is common practice with many aluminum frames but most people either don't know it or overlook it.

Priming the seat tube did nothing.
