I would go with 281mm.

H+Son is in China, headquarters and factory.

I ordered a pair of rims directly from them because of a drilling requirement issue. It was an "interesting" experience. They made good on the deal though, and it ended well.

idunno why uk was in my head. i emailed them and with what they said shipping would cost, each rim wouldve worked out to something like $120 so i figured it wasnt worth it

Because they design their site to look "Euro" and use British buzz words like "Stockists". Scrod and I had a debate about their marketing technique a long time ago.

Scrodzilla, update on the mysterious cable/housing saga: that shimano set actually wound up "fitting"

kindof.

inline adjusters added a little more length to the housing, the routing isnt perfect but it works for now, im gonna definitely wanna find some more housing somewhere

the cables that came with that set worked fine tho as far as length is concerned, didnt expect that, especially the front.

Hi, I am a complete beginner when it comes to riding bikes aside from my child hood however i came to you because i have read a few of your posts and you seem to be very knowledgeable with bike equipment. I just wanted to ask what kind of bike should i start off with (fixie/freewheel) I have looked all around the internet and have found numerous brands however they all seem the same to me and i can't tell the difference when it comes to the quality of the equipment used on the bikes. The brands i have considered are Aventon, Leader, Purefix(they are bleh), and Unknown. I think that you own a bike shop from what i have read correct? What have been your customers experiences with these brands and did they like them? Also how much do you think it would cost to have Road style drop bars installed on the Aventon which was my main goal. I asked around and all my local bike shops tell me most of the time that Aventon is some new brand they dont know about and none of them have it in stock one store has it that i haven't been to yet and was closed today when i went to go look for bikes, the other one i called over the phone told me that for an aventon i was looking at around 650! When the one from city grounds was around 500 i doubt the parts they are using in the aventon are very different from the ones from city grounds. They even advertise the frame for 350$ when they can clearly get it for wayy cheaper. If you feel this post is worth your time please reply back in detail.

Hey Scrodzilla, I've had a lot of conflicting info on this. I picked up an NJS Dura Ace crankset, 7600. What spindle length do I need, and is it ISO or JIS?

Common since says JIS, but I've read in some places that the NJS Dura Ace stuff is ISO for whatever reason.

Nope, DA 7600 is ISO.

I know two people using 109mm ISO and one person using a Phil Wood 110.5mm ISO. All of them have good chainlines.

Chances are you local bike shop sucks when it comes to fixed gear/track bikes (it's ok, most of them do).

Spend some time looking around the forum. You'll find the answers to all of your questions and learn a bunch of good, bad and altogether stupid things here, all of which will be worthwhile.

40ish nm. You really don't need a torque wrench though. Use common sense.

I remember a few months back, my dad was visiting and I was talking about how I'd gotten a larger torque wrench to go with my smaller one so that I could get the torque right on my bb. He just kind of looked at me and said, "why do you need a torque wrench? In my day, we just tightened it up as tight as we could and went for a ride." Of course it was a different time, but when he was in college in the mid 60's, he hitchhiked one summer most of the way home, then stopped at a sears 100 or so miles from home, bought a bike in a box and an adjustable wrench, put it together and rode the rest of the way home. Different times.

That is cool. You are right probably neither one of those scenarios would likely happen today.

Scrodzilla you are right about that most of the bikes that i had saw when i went into their shop was Trek road bikes and children's bikes. Which one would you go for looking at the specs comparing the City grounds aventon and the Raleigh rush hour. As those are the two bikes i can pick up from bike stores

As posted in your other thread:

If the Aventon completes your local shop is selling are built up using the Aventon/6KU parts package available to dealers (like the ones being sold by CityGrounds), you're probably better off buying the Raleigh.

It really comes down to whether you want an aluminum or steel frame.

Hey Scrod,

Who is making the best replacement 6000 Bearings these days? I like to keep a few sets in my toolbox/parts box. I used to get them from Applied Technology here in Cleveland, but they no longer have a "walk up" counter.
