mounted Panaracer Pasela Tourguards on the Nature Boy.

also full fenders for fall / winter. don't really want to think about snowy rides to work, but now all i have to do is mount my studded snows when the time comes.

but, now that i have full fenders on, it started raining like 1/2 hour later......

Half your luck. I put the mudguards back on the Europa ... right at the start of what turned out to be a dry spell

Wasn't a complete waste. Once the rains arrived, we've had one of the wettest winters for donkeys years along with a few broken records for wet days and wet months.

Today I went for a 2 hour zone 2 ride. Good lord they are boring. Horray for the start of fall and base miles time. :|

Swapped out my TT brake lever on my fixie's bullhorns for a cross lever.

And I didn't ride or do anything physically demanding for the first time in a while. Bike commuting 5 days a week plus 2-3 20 mile+ rides per week and my legs were begging for mercy.

maybe you should start road racing -

then there really isn't a point in doing a z2 ride that isn't 3 or more hours long.

personally 2 hr z3 or "tempo" type rides are my favorite training rides to do, I do them all year long. Z3 is a great intensity (for me) because you are just starting to ride kind of hard and feel like you are actually getting a workout, but it's not painful enough to require excessive mental toughness. Plus, you are beginning to go kinda fast so the sensation of speed makes it fun. I always try to focus on going as fast as possible (low back, relaxed shoulders, smooth high cadence, picking good lines in the road) without letting my HR go to z4.

edit: not that it matters for (heart rate wise) z2 for me is 150-165 bpm, and z3 is 165-175

today i

fixed my busted up fuji,
cleaned up the chain cuz it was a hot dessicated mess
pulled out the brake housing innards that somehow detatched itself from the plastic and redid the brake and bartape
got the shifter to behave again (hopefully, well see if the granny gear keeps on random slipping on climbs)
and stared at the gaping hole in my fender

gonna probably go for some recovery riding shortly but im lacking motivation after also cleaning my whole room

now im eating this facemelting egg and cheese sandwich on a pretzel roll

Are you using housing ferrules? My brakes did the same thing because I wasn't using ferrules inside the lever.

Today I realised I'm an idiot.

Performance is having a 20% off everything sale, so I figured I'd check out prices on tubes, etc and use some of my points. Going into my account, I notice that I have 16000 points. Without any investigation to how the points system works, I assume theres been a glitch in the system and I have $1600 to spend. I jumped in the truck and headed directly to the store, totally geeked and ready to tell the guy to show me their finest $1600 mtn bikes. Of course I'm thinking to myself, I don't really want a Performance brand mtb, but how the hell else will I spend $1600, so why not! When I get to the store, I ask the guy how the points work and tell him I'm interested in a mtb. He then explains points are like pennies...and then I left.

Fix kit? I figured your brakes got messed up enough to incur some kind of warranty/defect replacement.

In relevant news, I bought GTA V after getting out of work early. Welp, see ya later.
