Thanks guys. It was just way way to easy of a sale. Usually you jump through hopes and have to detail every single inch of a bike in photos.

Today I learned that quality control on Kilo TTs isn't the best. The threading on the fixed cup of the BB is totally screwed up and it has partially damaged the BB shell
. Usable but hard to screw in and out.

Go to your LBS and have them chase the threads. Should fix things right up.

I don't think so. Look closely and you'll see that the cup is askew in the BB shell. Normally, those cups screw all the way almost flush with the BB, but that one is totally cross-threaded for sure. And yes, I measured the BB width, and it's 68mm.

He was saying the cup may be wider, not the shell.
It's most likely cross-threaded in and when it got really hard to turn, whoever was doing the assembly just left it.

Why would the cup be wider ?

Also, this BB assembly is flanged on the right fixed side, such that there is no adjustment possible the way the Phil BBs provide.

Maybe so, but not in this case. Clearly the cup is crooked and clearly it is not flush with the bearing cartridge. But yes, you are correct that the bike is a POS.

Today I found out that a friend of mine bought thewilson's Pekopa / рекорд after he moved to the east coast.
It's a small small world.

Well, I couldn't fix it because I don't have a BB thread tap and didn't want to pay an LBS to fix it. I figured that as long as it didn't get loose, then why mess with it.

I am new here, working on my 1st sw8 fixay & have a question...
Why is it that when there is a question about what us new ss/fg guys looking to not spend a lot should buy, anyone who suggests anything other than something from Bikedirect is attacked as a shill for some other bikeness?

Bikes: Bike Count: Rising.
Today I did more work in the room, rode the dmr some, feeling dialed in on it now, leaning the bike even more than I normally do and am cornering harder. Also changed the saddle height some on it.

For a halfway decent low cost bike bikesdirect is generally your best option. A good quality single speed or fixed gear bike, any bike really, isn't cheap, hence your options are very limited if you're looking to buy new and spend no more than $300-400 all-in. When buying a bike, particularly if your looking for something above and beyond mere transportation - any old bike will accommodate that - you need to qualify your needs and expectations and then ask the question, "how much is this going to cost me?" Don't get me wrong. I can totally appreciate operating on a budget, but many newbies are unrealistic about cost. Save up for your dream bike and buy something cheap, perhaps second-hand, if you need a bike here and now.
