Today I (v2):

Today I was instructed to move on to overhead welding. Its going to be so great in my cramped welding booth, a real face full of sparks and slag.
Tonight I fixed up the bike I helped the lady purchase. Drilled some holes for the bottle cage, added a rack, tires, and adjusted the brakes.

today i drove my explorer for the first time in a couple weeks.
i'm fortunate enough that my new job is 10mi each way from my house....i racked up 146mi last week just from commuting.
easy miles, man.

My old commute was around 15 depending on which way I took. 19.5 just means I need to get up a few minutes earlier, but yeah, it's easy miles. Plus I don't feel bad eating the donuts in the break room when I get to work.
I could probably shave off a few miles if I didn't take the canal paths, but most of the roads between the house and work have zero bike lanes and rush hour drivers are ********.

What kind of terrible logic is that?
When I work the 9 - 5 shift it's the same. Passing stopped traffic is the best feeling.
F*** YES DONUTS.

~1.7 miles each way to work, and it's all downhill there, all climbing on the way home. And I often work split shifts, so I'll ride that distance 4x in commuting alone most days.
Still wish it was a bit longer from home to work, though.

Tried to install SKS longboards today. The key word is tried. In two hours I made little progress. It'll be a pain in the ass because of the disc brakes on the front fork (the rear ones are mounted under the seat stay, on the chain stay), and so I'm going to give it to a bike shop to make it their pain in the ass.
Portland people: what're some good bike shops? Preferably on the east side of the river.

My usual routine is to commute to/fro work via bike, then also go out for a ride in the evenings that lasts about an hour or two. But when the weather gets cold, the proper gear is required or it stops being enjoyable. I've been considering getting a set of rollers for the six week or so of bad weather we get here.

Riding indoors sucks so hard. I burnt myself out one winter doing workouts in the early am to save time.
Time lasts twice as long indoors.

Have to credit the exercise bikes at 24 hour fitness as I get too sweaty to look at my phone and it hurts my neck to keep it croned up to look at the ceiling mounted TV's.

just read this article about what to do if youre in an accident, though it headlines NYC's "no fault" medical insurance policy, most of this applies anywhere

I actually handle that very well. I just zone out of it all without having to do anything to keep myself attentive.

If I'm not feeling interval that I would just set it to "kiliamanjaro" for a climb of the same length. All of which I pretty much zone out and just ride.
Yeah I rather be outside anyhow but you gotta do what you gotta do after a work day.

Today I found out that despite the handful of vitamins and pint or more of milk that I've been consuming daily, my broken femur hasn't formed any noticeable growth towards mending since July. I get to wait two to six weeks to find out why.

Today I can add this to one of my reasons I should finally break down and get myself a go-pro for my commutes:
Riding back home, I hear a big loud blast of fighter jet roar, I look up, I see 6 blue angels flying low toward me in side by side formation. Executing their vertical sweep maneuver right in front of me with white smoke contrails. It was surreal.
For all you guys in San Diego or LA, the MCAS Miramar airshow is this weekend, Oct. 3,4,5. And if you can tell from my post, you can figure out the stars of the show.

Likewise. On cardio days I generally just hop on a lifefitness cycling machine, set it to level 25, 60 minutes, and just ride. Followed by a prolonged cool down 15 minute cool down at the end. And then take a picture of the 1000+ calories supposedly "burned" to txt to the sqrl.

Most find that it takes more willpower to ride for a given duration/intensity indoors. Still, I know of some people that ride primarily indoors, because of the control that it provides. Crazy talk.
