Awww I love you guys too. I'm really looking forward to the day when we can all meet in person at a bike/beard event. It'll be sweet.
It was a half page of beard talk in a 425 page thread that gets derailed to the point that you could call it an off topic thread. I find it amusing that this caused you so much outrage that you needed to google a beard forum, post a link, along with pointless sarcastic banter that you're continuing to drag on for another half of page.
Today I saved everybody from eminent doom because some noobs don't know how to safely operate an acetylene torch. Agg they shouldn't be allowed to even touch an electrode before demonstrating they know how to not cause an explosion.
What did you use? Last time I went shopping for some grinding and wire wheels I found these Scotch Brite adrasive discs. I was curious, took one home and tried it out on a scrap bike frame. Works like a charm without removing any frame material.

The blue grinding ones are top notch for grinding off paint/surface rust, it's what we use to clean up brass and delicate metals.

For the cable stop removal I used a Dremel to grind down the spot weld dimples, then vice grips to yank the brackets, then more Dremel action on the weld scabs, then hand filed the last mm, then sanded. Each one took about 40 minutes because as you know, you gotta be REALLY careful when you get close.
For all the slag removal and ugly weld cleanup I used steel brush wheels, the Dremel, files, steel wool, whatever would fit in the nooks and crannies. The BB cluster was a mess of rough scabs and slop. Nasty.
So far, all these old Schwinns I have worked on have been impressively straight, but the attention to cosmetic detail is nonexistent.
Today I am going to clean up the head tube cluster. Where they rolled and stretched and formed the "Tube" the steel exhibits "stretch mark" types of scars in the contours of the Faux Filet Braze area. It's really noticeable and I can't believe they sold the bikes with translucent paints. Totally obvious and ugly.

Today my face was cold while riding my SS/FG to work because I had shaved off my beard a week too soon.

I tried to find the part number for it but can't find anything specific. We order them through industrial finishes at work. This is my terrible picture, it's pretty much a grinding disc made of scotch brite.
