Today I serviced an inexpensive Formula low flange loose ball front hub that has never been opened since June of 2002. FOURTEEN years. I found plenty of grease and it was sill clean as a whistle. The bike has been used a lot over those years. I wish I knew what brand of grease that was, because it was fresh as new. Clear and slimy. There are redundant dust seals on the hub and they seem to do an incredible job of keeping contaminants out.

I can't believe no besides WI and Profile Racing makes a sealed bearing freewheel. I thought I'd try an ACS after riding a WI for year on my other wheelset and there's just no comparison. Noisy chain-tooth interface, draggy, etc.

Bikes: All of them

Today I'm still laughing at a KOM I got last night on my way home from a great ride in the hills. Anyone from SF might be familiar with the Wiggle route from the Mission to the Panhandle... this segment name is pretty hilarious: Bike Ride Profile | LOL near | Times and Records | Strava

I vote for the GTB.

If you'll be here any time between the 1st and 4th, West Side Invite is happening here this year and I'm sure the fixie shenanigans will be non-stop.

Today Subaru sent me a vacuum cleaner.

UPS drops off a big box from Subaru and I'm like "Wha...?" Open it up and there is a Dyson vacuum inside. It came with a card from customer service...

I figured out that they send Dyson cordless vacuums to people who call customer service with complaints like the dealer put the wrong oil in the car or something. I called them to ask a question but didn't have a complaint and next thing you know they send me a $300 vacuum. Weird.

I'm gonna sell it on craigslist to fund a new microwave over my stove.

DON'T BUY A MICROWAVE OVER YOUR STOVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Unless you can set it up super high it will screw with pot clearance and make it way harder to cook. We had one installed years ago and it sucks because certain pots won't fit under or when flambéing something the flames won't be able to go very high before hitting the microwave making for some nasty cleanup.

Sweet vacuum though, sell it and buy more bike parts that is what I would do : )

Honestly, I would keep the vacuum unless you are strapped for cash. I have a Dyson and it is really nice. Well worth the money they charge for one, and you got it for free?

The previous owner of the house left a kirby vacuum cleaner (probably got gilt tripped into buying it by a salesman).

Their questionable sales tactics aside, it's built like a tank and actually performed better than the dyson upright we had. Weighs a ton but its propelled by drive motors like those swanky honda lawn mowers the landscaping guys use.

Also, don't forget about the mom's in your life, mother's day is this Sunday! I nearly did.

A microwave has been above my stove for 18 years. Never had a problem. No worries.

I already have a Dyson DC01 "Animal". Honestly, they are completely over-engineered, over priced, Rube Goldberg solutions to a non problem.

That's what I'm talking about. Should have bought a Kirby or an Orek.
