the first time i had a scenario like this i stopped bothering and keeping track in a budgeting app, my bank only came out with a phone app last month (which gives you a clue about what im dealing with here)

like i wish all money dealings were instant and realtime like cash, but i hate carrying cash around cuz i can spend it so easy and it takes up too much room

Rode 13 miles in the heat two days ago and the pneumonia flared up on me. Felt like hell last night.

Today I saw this craigslist ad...

https://fortwayne.craigslist.org/bik/3955786230.html

That's going to help sell your bike. Also got a bike trailer for the twins. 3 more months and they'll be ready to ride. And I made refrigerator pickles with cukes from the garden. Garlic!

If you're good at budgeting, a credit card with some kind of rewards system is the way to go. Just gotta make the payment at the end of the month.

I look forward to the day that everything is automated and the only thing I need to carry is my phone.

My grandparents, who lived thru the depression, kept a little emergency money in their freezer, because hey, you never know. When my Pap moved into an assisted-care apartment type "nursing home" and sold his house, they had to thaw stuff to find the cash.

Also: tradition, easy application of your favorite tincture (sunscreen, lotion, embrocation(!), etc), after-crash care, to name some of the less important reasons.

edit: Oh! I almost forgot. If you've never felt the amazingness of freshly shorn gams + bedsheets/jeans, you're really not living life to its fullest.
Had literally no idea that shaving legs was this big thing with bike riders.
Totally get the sunscreen/lotion/bedsheet thing - but that you look like a total novice by showing up at the track with hairy legs? Blew my mind.

Just seem too much of a hassle for me personally.

My parents used to keep the extra cash in the freezer too. I always found it amusing as a child.

Same, except mid-work snack. Nectarines are the jam.

Don't you know, that where the expression "cold cash" comes from.

Also next week is my weekend of Lolla aftershows. F- the festival itself, but Queens of the Stone Age 8/1, The Foals 8/2, and Matt & Kim 8/3 makes kaz a happy girl. (And then the Tiny Fix Street Hustle race is Sunday. I might die from exhaustion.)
