Time to feel some early Sat morning pain again :p

Want to see how quickly we can do the #1 ride? I have to be home by 10:30 and something tells me the beginners won't be doing 30 miles in 2 hours. Otherwise, I'll have to break off from them at Winnetka and ride back home.

How about doing the half metric at Cruising? You could easily knock down that distance and be home in time. And you get to ride with 1000 of your closest friends!

The metric starts at 8:00 so I'd have to average 17 mph to finish the course by 10:00 so I can pack up and drive 20 min back home. At the moment I average 16 mph on my weekday 15 mile loop which has less than 100' of elevation gain. If I had thought about it, I would have suggested her family plan for later in the afternoon, but I didn't so it's my fault.

Naw, you're overthinking it. No one tells you when to start at the parking lot, you could leave at 7!

Sorry urban I'm going to do the 3+ ride, probably will be back later for that ride. I need to get in some good climbing miles :)

Why don't you join one of those rides? If anything I wouldnt mind waiting for you on the climbs or anything of that sort. The group is pretty friendly too, you should do one of the medium rides that leads to Rose Cafe or something. Only 1-2 climbs like Sepulveda, pretty mild stuff.

You'll see that yo ucan do it, even though it seems like alot at first.

I plan to soon. It's just been busy, which is probably good because it keeps my progression slow. I'm now up to 30 miles with over 1000' gain. Next weekend is my brother-in-law's graduation, and I should have some free weekends after that. I'll do a 3 ride then, maybe some 4s by the end of June.

yea the 3s are very chill.

My only advice is to eat alot. Alot of people start doing those rides and they don't eat anything and on the way back they slug like no other.

eat eat eat eat :D

See you tommorow in the morning if you come!!

urbanknight 05-11-07 11:46 PM

grrr, I'm out. They say that life is what goes by while you're sitting around making plans. Well, I am now planning on checking on my parents' dog while they go visit their grandson. I can't really complain, though, as I have been able to ride more this week due to an altered schedule at work.

edit: Oh, and you sound like my Jewish friend's mother, or my wife's Italian family. Eat, eat, eat!

ovoleg 05-12-07 08:01 AM

hahaha well thats the thing I notice alot on rides is that people dont eat...I guess people are trying to lose weight or something but its really counter productive.

Coming out?

urbanknight 05-12-07 09:20 AM

Naw, but if I didn't have to drop off my dog first, I would have ridden my bike to my parents' house to take care of their dog. It makes a nice 30+ mile round trip from Encino to Agoura.

ovoleg 05-12-07 04:14 PM

fun ride today

******** ralphs closed the line when we were at the front for maintenance crap and the self check out thing didnt take my card. I was hurting on Santa Susana because of it. Oh well I made it :p

Fun ride nonetheless.

Vance I do believe we had a rare Ovo bird sighting. BTW I was there too and it was a fun ride. I was glad I didn't do the Conejo ride today. Glad to meet you too Ovoleg.

Yep, that means you saw Vance. You can read his bike from 1000 feet away! My complaint: We drove to my parents house to take the dog out and found that they hadn't gone afterall. They had planned on calling us when they woke up, but they sleep in until 11 on Saturdays. Ah well, at least I got extra miles in during the weekday. If anyone wants to do an early afternoon ride (25-40 miles) next Mon or Wed, shoot me a PM.

Now that I found out that Vertical Bob had a Floyd sighting on the Conejo ride , i'm not glad I picked the CSUN ride. Whine Whine.

mkadam68 05-13-07 06:38 PM

I saw him pass me too, but I didn't realize who it was at the time. I might've stopped and said hello...or something... :)

Oh, stop your whining.
You didn't care when I saw the ENTIRE Disco squad on Latigo 2 days before the ATOC start!
What's Floyd got that Basso doesn't? More lawyers?

Family reunion (first time all together in 7 years) so I only got an hour in the hills
before anyone else got out of bed.

I'll ride from the college this weekend.

herbm 05-15-07 09:40 AM

For any SFVBC'ers interested...
There is a GMR ride this Sunday!
