Cool, I'll see you there. I plan on getting some good miles tomorrow and Fri so the #2 ride Sat will be just right.

Luwin ROCKS! Met him this afternoon at the Performance in Pasadina and picked up this beautiful Tarmac S-Works, full Campagnolo, with Keo pedals. All I'm doing is swapping out saddles and it'll almost be like riding my own bike. Not even sure if I'm going to need to adjust the saddle height! He's even running the same wheelset as I have back home on my Flyte. Thankfully he's running Conti Gatorskins so hopefully no flats since I know how tight the Fulcrum wheels can be when changing tubes.

I'm riding tomorrow to test out the bike with the carrying case.

Anyone in for a stroller around the valley and crap?

cuda2k 11-21-07 07:56 PM

ovoleg, what time, where, how far? Doubt I'll be able to make it, but don't have any plans currently.

Fairly sure Brian could be bought off for less than that to give up my address in the event I don't show back up with his ride.

Unless someone cares to pick my carless butt up and drop me off at Ventura @ DeSoto, going to be out for tomorrow's ride. Wife has too much to do in the morning to drive me up there. (If you're feeling generous, PM me contact info, headed out for about an hour or so, be back and can contact back then.)

Ride to and from the start. It isn't very far from Ventura/Desoto.

Not sure if I want to ride some of these streets around here solo. Anyone suggest a route off the main roads?

edit: decided I'd probably scout some of Saturday's route where the major (for me) climbing is. Which incidentally isn't far from where I'm staying. Might not get many miles in, but at least I'll have an idea of what I'm in for on Saturday so I'm not caught completely by surprise when I get dropped on the climb!

urbanknight 11-22-07 12:56 AM

Take DeSoto north past Victory where you can turn right onto a bike path. Jump off it and turn left at Lindley which is a less traveled street that will take you right to the campus. Turn left just after Nordhoff and ride through the faculty parking lot to get to the lot SFVBC meets at. I think that would total 6 miles.

ovoleg 11-22-07 12:58 AM

go down De Soto until you reach Nordoff. Make a right on Nordoff. You will see the university right after you pass Reseda. It's really nothing, probably 5 miles tops. No one will be on the road that early in the morning.

See you in the morning, its going to be chillax

urbanknight 11-22-07 01:06 AM

Cuda, if you see Ovo, take a picture to prove you saw him. And take the pic in the first 5-10 miles because he might disappear after that! lol

cuda2k 11-22-07 01:45 AM

Heck, ya'll going to ride right past the apartment's front door. I might just jump on then and ride for a bit before going solo for some hill repeats in the area.

ovoleg 11-22-07 02:41 AM

i'll be there with a bag full of rocks...lol dont worry the ride is going to be chill, 20ish miles with slow ppl

cuda2k 11-22-07 01:46 PM

Went out solo this morning to see how my legs felt and check the fit on the Tarmac. Bike felt great, right knee is bothering me again after doing some climbing. Going to wait to see how it feels this evening, but I might need to wimp out and do the #1 ride Saturday. All this time off the bike and adjusting to this new position has completely screwed my riding.

urbanknight 11-22-07 02:21 PM

You will probably feel the #1 ride is too slow. It's usually a chatty ride with wives of riders doing the big rides , overweight guys just looking to lose a few pounds, and people who just started riding this year. Not that there's anything wrong with any of them, but they're quite content to have a nice conversation while pedaling along at 10-12 mph.

Well...maybe on Sat...but Sunday's #1 is a bit more spirited...

 I remember my first Sunday ride w/the club about 2-3 weeks ago. Everyone had always told me that everybody did the shorter ride. In my mind, I guess I was expecting a nice, leisurely ride. Couldn't be more wrong. I remember Big John getting frustrated because just as we were getting going around 22-23mph, we'd hit a stop light. Fun stuff!!

cuda2k 11-22-07 03:29 PM

Hummm, maybe I'll have to find a detour around the hills that I'll inevitably be walking up? *sigh*
