Harden up. You're a Vermonter (Vermontese?) furcrysake.

NH. Big difference! :)

urbanknight 11-29-07 10:20 AM

Look at the bright side, Vance. weather.com has frequently been about 10 degrees low from my account. That at least puts your start above freezing temps.

Oh, sorry, you're a New Hamster.

I doubt it, it was 31 in Elizabeth Lake Tuesday night.

How about it?

What does that entail?

Trying to beat the other KOM riders on the selected KOM climbs.
I got drafted.

I'm still not getting this. The TdF is a century ride, I've gathered. You say there are selected KOM climbs. There is then, what, a designated 3-man limited field to contend the KOM competition?

As I understand it, three riders from each club.

Good luck, Cassave.

Hey Paul (JtS), how have you been? Riding much?

I was "volunteered", as well... I told he should probably pick someone else, because it's hard to pick up KOM points from my living room. ;)

harden up:D

Latest forcast from NWS, no rain Saturday, sunny and breezy.
And mother cold. We'll live.

Weather.com has a high of 47 for Saturday, starting temp at 31.
10% chance of precip. It should be dry and mother cold.

See you there.

I'm out of this. I'm not hardening anything up like you boys do. But I have good excuses. :D

No rain dramatically improves the odds of a Vance sighting. Still... bone chilling descents. I would ask you what your layering strategy is, but I don't think I've ever seen you even use arm warmers!

There's a reason why Cassave never shaves....

urbanknight 11-29-07 07:41 PM

Wear a vest over bib, base, and jersey with arm warmers and leg warmers. Zip it up for descents and unzip it or remove completely for climbs.

That works for my morning commute that starts at 5:45am, minus the bib (I wear shorts... for now)

Oh yeah, and that too. I don't shave... especially during the Winter.

Hey Bra. Okay. Same old.

Thinking about doing the Decker Descent thing. Any idea of average speed on these things? Would rather a little faster than slower, but haven't been on enough of the organized SFVBC rides to know what is standard. Come to think of it, I think I've only been on one SFVBC organized ride, ever, although I've ridden with you folks enough outside of the rides.

Gonna burn it up on the KOM? Heard Cassave might even scrap the steel ride for some black-ops nanocarbon-aerogel deal he's been cooking up in the garage. It's on, or so I've heard.

urbanknight 11-29-07 08:02 PM

The 4 rides with climbing like that seem to average 17mph+ (not counting stops). I don't know the + part since I was on the tail end.

Hey Paul! Why don't you come to Castaic and ride the TDF? I'm going but I may wuss out and turn back early. I'm a little more out of shape than usual.

Shprung 11-30-07 12:09 AM

So...
are we going to see Ovo (for the first, like, 8 miles) in TDF?
Ovo, if you come, I will buy you the parking ticket :p

How you been John? Been looking forward to getting a ride in with you. Haven't done anything long since your ride out Frazier Park way. Thanks for the invite, but the TdF, from what I know of it, seems a little long for me right now. You have anything planned for the next few weeks? Let me know.

Thanks for the speed info, Urbanknight. That sounds pretty reasonable, depending on gradient, etc.
