Thanks for the speed info, Urbanknight. That sounds pretty reasonable, depending on gradient, etc.

Paul, the TDF is a tough century, but you could always turn back at any point since it is an out and back. It won't be as cold as the ride we did in Oct., although some people are freaking out over the weather.

I had a crash on the mtb on Oct. 20th where I fell off a cliff. Screwed up my back and shoulder, so my mileage is down some, but I'm gonna try.

Ovo, if you come, I will buy you the parking ticket :p

You're dreaming.

Ovo would be riding from home like always. Of course, that means he'll be turning back before he gets there!

I have no idea whom you might be talking about.

Vance, go do a ride right now. After that, tomorrow will feel like a sunny Spring morning.

Fortunately, the wet stuff appears to be heading out in plenty of time to make tomorrow dry. Cold I can handle. But wet+cold just isn't worth it.

The only aspect I'm worried about is my gloves... not sure they are quite warm enough. Might have to scoot down to Performance today.

Thinking about doing the Decker Descent thing. Any idea of average speed on these things? Would rather a little faster than slower, but haven't been on enough of the organized SFVBC rides to know what is standard. Come to think of it, I think I've only been on one SFVBC organized ride, ever, although I've ridden with you folks enough outside of the rides.

Gonna burn it up on the KOM? Heard Cassave might even scrap the steel ride for some black-ops nanocarbon-aerogel deal he's been cooking up in the garage. It's on, or so I've heard.

I wish.
Same old steel tomorrow.
With a rack to carry an eskimo blanket.

You will tomorrow.
Club jersey is required (no joke).
I actually bought some knee warmers, ahhh luxury.

I bought some cheap ($6) ski gloves at wallymart last winter and they're great
for the 2 or 3 times a year I need them. They're filled with aerogel;)

BS!

Your mojo is up on Lake Hughes road. Now you'll never find it.:(

 I totally missed this. The single biggest proponent of the TdF can't back out now! If *I* am doing it, anyone else will have a balmy time of it.

merider1 11-30-07 11:36 AM

Look it, men. Don't make me cry.

Damn, too late.

I have the following excuses:

1. Going to my best friend's husband's play tonight (well, improv thingy) and it doesn't start until 8 and isn't over until close to ten. That means, I'm not in bed until 11pm. Forget it.
2. I'm going to go look at an apartment tomorrow that I talked to the landlord about. Tomorrow is the only day I can go see it and if I like it, I'm moving.
3. I have no mojo out at Lake Hughes or otherwise.

I'm a sad sack lazy ass pathetic whining crying sniveling mess.

Besides, Clint and Vance, you'll just drop me within two minutes of the ride taking off.:p

11 PM is plenty of sleep.
It's only 95 miles.
You have enough cold weather gear to ride the Iditarod course.
Look at the apartment in the afternoon, after the ride.
Your mojo is waiting and has no sympathy for you BTW.

Funny, no mention of the fact that you'll drop my sorry ass within two minutes. Tell you what, you and Vance ride with me the whole day, which means watching Keith and the big boys take off without you, finishing dead last with the GIRL, and having to hear all about my life for 9.5 hours (you'll get the abbreviated version, of course, as that simply isn't enough time to tell you all about my trials, tribulations, hopes and dreams), and I'll consider riding. :D

You should be stripped of your arm warmers tomorrow for that. Clint knew better than to lie. Of course, he won't be wearing arm warmers tomorrow, so there'd be no point in stripping him of them anyway, but you get my point. :p

I'm out of the TDF also, due to various lame reasons. By the way who is this Clint person you speak of.

Well, they had better give YOU a hard time too, then! After all, you have mojo to spare, woman. ;)

I call Cassave "Clint" cause he reminds me of Clint Eastwood (a younger version). He has the good looks and ruggedness that Clint has. He also has no sympathy.

No worries, Cath... you are forgiven. LOL

So, if you ladies often find yourself alone and dropped for lost on these longer rides, why do them? Or are we just talking one lady? ;)

Look you, I rode this ride last year when it wasn't just a wimpy 95 miles like this year's is. It was 103 with roughly 11,000 feet of climbing. I was dropped by all the men and still finished on my own, and no, I did not get lost. I was the ONLY woman out there.

But thanks for the suggestion. :)

Vance and Clint: Let me add that I'll do it if you spend a night at the movies with me watching a chick flick. :D

Look, Clint's been silent. Unless the both of you agree, it technically isn't a deal. Andy why does Cathy get off easy?

I'd rather eat the muzzle of a .357 magnum, the most powerful handgun in the world.......

Cathy gets off easy cause her mojo is intact, not wandering around in the high places looking for
a home.

:roflmao: Fine. Can't make it. Clint will be chewing on his gun tomorrow while my mojo floats around in the 30 degree headwinds. :p
