It looks like the lever is in the release position, campy puts the release in the lever instead of the caliper.

$120 for a Fuji Saratoga. Terrible picture, but looks to be a 23" 1989. Bar end accushift, cantis, 27" wheels. I would be scooping this myself except that I already have a 1988!

"RARE 1983 TREK 700 in Museum Quality Condition"

In the midst of the marketing blurbage a frame size would help.
And the cross-chaining is included at no extra charge.

If you're going to take a classic bike with the original components (assuming the components are original) and strip it, do the bicycle collector world a favor...don't buy it and butcher it like the bike is just some pig to be made into bacon. Let someone buy who will appreciate it.

I don't know. I'd do the same thing if I had the scratch for the initial outlay and the patience to sell off the bits I didn't want.

Meh. In scheme of mankind who really cares.

Museum pieces should be kept original, but then you just have a stuffed leopard. I don't see how that is morally superior to a butchered pig.

Mmmmm....bacon!

Come on. I'd bet Ti Basso frames were sold separately. In any event, I would see nothing wrong with stripping mass-produced, easily replaceable parts from the early 90s. Nothing on that bike is too hard to find. It's not as if it's some '60s French bike that would cost a fortune to restore.

If I had a dime for every time I said something like that about an older steel NR or SR bike and everyone else was screaming PART IT OUT I could buy three of these. I don't think this came OEM with any particular group but likely a choice of groups or 'kits'

I agree. If it had a nice pantoed group or something special I could see leaving it whole. I don't this is quite in the collectors realm just yet.

[h=2]Pinarello Dolomite Italian Road Bike - $600 (Somerville)[/h]

For sale is a Pinarello "Dolomite" Italian Road Bike, 60cm, probably from the mid-80s. It has original Shimano 105 components and Pinarello leather saddle.

The original rear wheel's freehub gave out, and so was replaced with a handbuilt wheel. I also have an extra-tall seat post on it right now, for taller riders - but I have the original as well.

The decals (as with most Pinerellos from this period) haven't fared well, and are mostly non-existant. The bike has a few scrapes from use. Overall it's in great shape and ready to ride.

[h=2]Italian Road Bike - Campy - $649 (CT)[/h]

Mid-1980's De Bernardi Italian road bike, perfect condition, very low miles. Frame size is 21.5" center-to-top. Top tube is 55cm. Pristine Columbus double-butted lugged steel frame, lightweight, great handling and ride quality. Under 1000 miles, so wear is virtually nil. Mix of Campagnolo (crankset, shift levers) and high quality Sachs Huret components (front and rear deraileurs). Weinmann levers and rims, ITM handlebars and stem.

Professionally tuned up in March, ready to ride and enjoy.

De Bernardi bikes are collectable, high quality, handmade Italian bikes like Guerciotti, Ciocc, Colnago, Masi, Guerciotti, Pinarello, etc. This is a great ride that will give many, many miles of riding enjoyment.
