Some of us have gone way beyond CigTech's venture with our Denali's
, which is still a BSO but actually a pretty decent bike if you don't mind the messing-with to keep it going.
In fact, I rode mine to work today. Deliberately, not because I had to. I got it in 2008 I think, 18-20K miles on it plus or minus.

What's that other bike?

Then I moved within England and could walk into work. So, I didn't cycle. Now, I bought a house about a 20-min walk from work, so I cycle in again
There is a free bus as well also, so I don't really save.732 USD seems like quite bit but that includes everything, so I guess that it makes sense.
Anyways, we'll see what happens in the longer-term!

Yeah. I agree. I bought the bike in England after living in CPH (Copenhagen) for a while, where it was trendy to have a multi-coloured single speed bike. It seems that the consensus is that this bike is much better than I anticipated. Essentially, it's Hi-Ten steel with super cheap wheels and not-even-Shimano/Suntour level of components. It has BMX brakes for example.
Maybe it's the BSO version of a FGSS bike?
Anyways, it was an attempt to compete with CigTech who had/has(?) a GMC Denali, which was also considered a BSO at that time.
Here's a link to other thread ... with some wild claims

Two points:
1. Your bike is significantly nicer and more expensive than a GMC denali.
2. Cigtech was obviously completely full of bull about many of his claims, which cast his claims about the bike itself into doubt as well.

A few years ago, a neighbor brought me a GMC Denali to tune up. I was able to get it in good working order. But ick!

I don't like grip shifts, either, but they're fine for some people, and it makes sense for a cheap bike. What I couldn't stand was the excessive weight. And the overall quality of the bike. Horrible.

Making substantial progress on the house ... more photos later ... restoring the Edwardian/Victorian fireplaces in the upstairs bedroom ... chimney full of debris for insulation and need to remove ... also removing lead pipe ... will need to rebuild the brickwork and joists under the kitchen which we'll gut and repurpose as it's a very large space (4m x 4.2m) ... maybe extend it depending on how much money we can squirrel away.
