The wife and I got out again for the 12 mile route she likes to ride. It gets a little boring for me, but at least she's being active and getting some exercise. Her Marin Redwood is likely a much more comfortable ride on these cow paths they call roads around here.

55 miles and 3300’. Beautiful day.

I have been riding some but not posting. I did my first back to back outdoor days of the year the last 2 days. 16 the first and 20 the second. Got 500 feet of climbing in yesterday. Wore me out pretty good. Speeds are down, but that is to be expected at this point. Less than 3 months to the Grand Fondo. I feel pretty good about where I am at. The consistent temps will be back in about 3 weeks and I am going to hit it hard in April and May. Long weekend rides.

I need to start pushing for 2-3 laps and not stop before it starts getting tough. That is a bad habit I have fallen into.

nothing wrong with stopping now and then - a short stop now and then can be a good reset

a few years ago when I returned to biking I struggled especially during the return of out-and-back rides … then realized I was not stopping (at all or enough) during the return trip

added a stop or two - and then ride satisfaction increased :)

I have been trying to go as far as I can without stopping. A short break for water after a 6 mile loop would make it easier to go further.

I agree a stop once in a while is a good thing for me, but I was so happy that for the 1st time I didn't HAVE to stop on this Strava segment. Overall, a 7 mile ride. It was 2 days ago, but just now had time to post.

This has been kicking my derrierre. Now I'm 1,827 out of 2,074. Not even close to DFL.

Did another 6 mile lake loop. We have storms coming and the wind really picked up so I didn’t even try to do a second lap.

There are a few turns.

Panhandle trail - McDonald to Burgettstown

t2p 03-27-25 07:15 PM

rode east to west today - and then back

55 degrees / mostly sunny and windy

on the way out the wind was an issue - felt like I was stuck in quicksand at times

but picked up the cadence and then eventually shifted up a gear - now doing better / feeling good

saw a rider in the distance - began to close the gap … feeling better …

got closer and then realized the ‘rider’ I was gaining on was a walker

oh well :)

Went out for the first time since last July when I started having problems with my left knee. Went about four miles. Got the usual tenderness and stiffness but it went well considering. Ortho doc tells me it’s arthritis but I do wonder if there’s something else going on. Been doing my PT stretches for the past four months and the past two weeks have been decent. Some days I almost have my normal stride when I walk, so I’m hopeful.

Cheers,

Scott

Beautiful day today but my usual route was flooded from all the rain last night so I had to hit the highway to get my miles in. 40 approx. with only 2 near misses. A drunk pulled out right in front of me without even looking (I'm assuming drunk cause it was a bar parking lot) and an old couple driving English style (wrong lane with no shoulder for me to get off onto so I had to take the left lane to avoid them) and they looked at me like I was in the wrong haha. I say they were old, but I'm sure they were younger than me. This biking thing is awesome. Kinda like a fountain of youth :)

My old stomping grounds! I used to do a 65 mile, 3-county loop in that area. Great riding.

I did 23 yesterday, first time outside after a winter of Zwift. Felt good, like I was in mid-summer shape, flattening hills and standing on climbs that usually have me gasping in the Spring. Legs are feeling it today but it's a good kind of sore.

As the rain comes down tonight, I just looked at my rides this past Saturday and Sunday. Both were trail rides with a paved road section, on my XC bike. Looking forward to less rain this spring. The greens are so intense in the hills!

Rode a bit over 20 miles with a club member recovering from knee replacement surgery. She was wanting to ride at a slower pace than most of the club rides and didn't want to deal with traffic, so we went to the Cowpens National Battlefield which has a 3 mile loop road around it. Just about zero vehicle traffic. It's a great place to ride as long as you're not alone, because riding the same loop over and over gets really boring very quickly unless you have someone to talk to.
We would have gone further than the 20 miles, but the pollen was so thick our tires were yellow after the first few hundred yards and didn't clear up after that. After about 18 miles I was mouth breathing (I have allergies) and my sinuses were completely clogged. Yeah, it was gross.

Always grateful to post this thread

I’ve been riding my 2 ‘new’ bikes lately, just posting here a bit less often.
