HI,
My wifes wanted to go to the Comissary, I wanted to ride, but I got a look.
Any who as I started the faithfull crate , its Alternator Light came on, and I said a dirty word.
I went by my local Advanced auto and they ran some test. And said Zero output from the alternator, he also mentioned it maybe a ground or bad wire.
So I bought the Alternator and took it home pulled out my Handy rachet set, and commenced to remove and replace that device.
Now is it me or has anyone else become a better fix it man from working on all those bike components.
It went really well I noticed the replacement unit was a bit smalled so I thought hum needs a washer.
So I pulled out a steel washer and placed it next to the bracket clamp on the inside piece it worked well.
So thats what happened to my ride today.
PS I did make it to the Comissary and work on time too.

Pretty normal Saturday ride today. 1/2 hour riding to meet with some friends, 2 hours coming back home. If I have time in the mornings, sometimes I'll invert and do the 2 hour ride first.
I might be in trouble though... The prairie dogs aren't afraid of me whizzing past any more.

Was supposed to ride the new tandem today with my son on the Sat Club ride, but he partied too late. So I took the "half bike" and went out. Did a 1/2 century at 18.4.

I rode the Cleburne Goatneck 200k permanent today. It ended up being a tough day. It's an out and back route, and most of the roads on the first half of the route got new boulderseal since I last rode it, and the last half already had rough roads. The route has 7500 feet of climbing, with very few flat stretches, as you can see from the elevation chart below. Add a 100 degree afternoon to all that, and you have a tough ride. Only 3 of the 5 of us who started the ride managed to finish, and it took us 11 hours and 13 minutes. I ended up with 128.5 miles.

Want to get thoroughly exhausted in 16 miles @ 7mph avg? Ride a mountain bike on some tough trails. Today's ride included sections of tight, rocky, hilly singletrack and sections of smooth, flowing doubletrack. There were long climbs and blistering descents. Unlike my last MTB outing, there were no falls today. I was completely wiped out after the ride and spent most of the afternoon asleep in a recliner.

Did the local "HellBent for Breakfast" ride with the Rochester Area Recumbent Enthusiasts. A nice, early 20 mile R.T. breakfast run along the Erie Canal.
Got home and my bride and visiting College Daughter are still asleep. The daughter has been entertaining thoughts of going for a ride later today. I'm ready!
EDIT: The ride with the daughter ain't gonna happen....the rain arrived before the Sandman departed.

I'm 1/3 of the way through my attempt at a Sunday century. Made the out and back from Hutchinson to Yoder (basically North to South) with a constant 15+ mph south headwind I had to fight going out. The trip back was much, much nicer.
I finally got up close and personal with a big yellow lab mix that lives at a farmhouse near the Arkansas river. The first few times he ran out and "greeted" me it scared the heck out of me. But now, after knowing his pattern and figuring out that he's just having fun, I slowed down and let him come up to me and give my leg a sniff today. For a minute I wasn't sure if he'd lick me or chomp on my leg. Luckily, he just gave me a sniff and went on his way.
I've downed a pint of OJ, relaxed in my recliner with my shoes and socks off for 20 minutes, so I'm ready to do the trip one more time.
I wish the wind would die down, but that ain't gonna happen.

Small group ride today of 43 miles with 4000' of climbing. Basically the same ride I've done 3 times over the last week. Each ride has had a slightly different start but all were around 40 miles +/-. Warm today, started in the mid 60s and ended back in town in the mid 80s. Nice and cool on top of the mountain though. Picked a few wild blueberries also.

I rode to work this morning (about 7 miles); about half way there my freewheel decided to freewheel in both directions. 6:40AM and I am supposed to start work at 7AM. Called in that I would be late and hoofed it the rest of the way, which wouldn't have been so bad if the temperature wasn't already in the mid-70sF and the humidity in the 90% range. By the time I got to work I felt like someone had dumped a bucket of sweat over my head.

40 miles on a hot and muggy Sunday. I started early before the heat really kick and take over me. I was pushing hard to get 50 but the wind is just brutal mostly in open areas. Taking a nap and maybe I'll ride more later today.

I was going to do a long ride today but I went and played 18 holes of golf instead. The weatherman was calling for 97 degrees and humid and he was spot on! It was hot on the old golf course and that was even at 8am on the 7th hole!
Well I came home and went on a bike ride anyway and got in 42 miles and I am glad I did too. Wasn't ALL that bad even though it was HOT. Drank my two water bottles, one with water and one with Gatorade, before I finished and that usually does not happen.
Had a nice roastbeef sub I bought on way home from golf waiting for me too, man that was good as well as a ice cream sandwich!

After warming up with some team mates over a 10 mile lap I rode in a 30 mile Cat 4 race under windy conditions with higher temps then we are used to in Ohio. I rode very strong today and was able to hammer up the big hill at the front of the 30 man pack on each lap. Tired to get into two early break-a-ways that didn't go anywhere. Early in the 3rd lap a team mate got away with 5 other riders, so from there on my race was to protect our rider in the break. I stayed at the front for the last 5 miles pulling the group along and keeping our sprinter out of the wind. I worked to push the pace to split the remaining pack, not let any attacks get to our man out front, and to keep our sprinter fresh. Possibly due to the heat, my good day, or this past week's planned recovery, my HR was in mid to upper Z5 for the whole time I pulled and I was nowhere near blowing up. With less than 1/2 mile to the finish, the pack that was left, went by me for the field sprint. I followed up the field sprint and finished in the top 12 or so. It sucks that on a day when I rode so well with power I didn't place, but our team did take 3rd and 7th over all. The race only paid $ for the top 5 places so I didn't really care about sprinting in a field sprint that didn't mean much. I did get in 30 racing miles with a 22.8 average and a lot of kudos from my team mates.

I didn't ride our man down, we kept about 250 yards behind the break. I talked to our sprinter and we agreed that if I pushed the pace after the last time up the hill and false flat the other riders wouldn't be organized enough to attack and attempt a bridge up. When we turned into the wind with 2.5 miles to go our pack of about 25 had already split up and the remaining riders in our group were too much into the hole to mount an attack into the wind. The idea was to get him to the finish stretch within our group, weed out some other riders, and not have anyone else bridge to the front. Our guy is a great sprinter, but isn't that good at riding alone or on chases. He told me after the race that he almost was dropped after the last hill.

Well, I didn't get the 100 miles completed like I wanted today. I rode two back and forths to Yoder for a total of 68 miles, then switched to my road bike and took it slow and easy around the park until I saw a big, black storm cloud heading my way, with rain and lightning spewing forth. I hightailed it back home, and ended the day with 85 miles.
That second trip out to Yoder just about did me in. The winds kicked up even faster than they were this AM, and were blowing a steady 25 mph with gusts up to around 30. There's a 6 mile stretch of road that head due south into Yoder, and the wind was coming straight from the south, so I got a nice workout. I guess a person can get by without hills here in my part of Kansas.
Cyclinfool, I'm sure I'll be doing some napping tomorrow.

Have not been riding much the past few weeks - vacation, business travel, family commitments.
Commuted 3 days last week, and then went for a long-ish ride today. 47 miles, familiar route, a few challenging hills, a couple of nice bike shops along the way.
Nice ride, ready for the last few weeks of summer...
