So far I like it. There are a few things I need to change, like the tires, but it's only a week old.

They look right with whatever the rider needs.

LOL, originally I ordered the flat easton carbon bar but my connection with my LBS got it wrong and with so much savings he got me, I didnt have the heart to grind him, but thought I would give the minimal riser bar a try; anyways so far it feels good. The RL front suspension works great, perhaps the best component on the bike.

Bikes: Ritchey P-series prototype, Diamondback, Nishiki Triathelon Pro.

Back in black.

Some new black MSHBKS sealed pedals, replacement ODI grip rubbers -black
-and some Ritchey Rizer bars, guess the non-color?
Oh a black seatpost......and I re-painted the flat black on the frame - all scratched.

Black is the new Red.

Why RST? or why dual crown?

RST because it was cheap, less than 1/2 the price of an equivilent marzocchi in this country, (dont even ask what a fox is worth over here). Light, less than many single crowns, especially marzocchi's, and nearly half what the single crown it replaced weighed. It was made from magnesium (legs) and hard chromed 7050 aluminum staunchions. Never bottomed out on me and gave a sweet ride. Bang for the bucks!

Dual crown because I am largish and it gave me a little extra confidence to know that if a crown did start to tear or deform then I'd get more warning than with a single crown. Also because it was the replacement for a real dud model and these were overbuilt to compensate.

Second post to this thread, with some updates to my bike. I've ridden enough to figure out more about what I want/like, so... voila, the updated Stumpy:

Changes since last time:
  • Panaracer Smoke/Dart combo to replace the default tires - tired of the crappy grip and flats; moved to slightly bigger tires (2.0 -> 2.1)
  • Eggbeater SL pedals to replace the Shimano SPDs - much easier to get locked in
  • Moved the pump, saddle bag and water bottle into a camelback - bike rattles less; easier to get a drink while riding
  • Took off the lights - not doing any night riding for now
  • Lost the bar ends, replaced with Ergon grips - fixes my hand numbness problems; removed the risk of bar ends catching on trees
  • Took off the Fox fork graphics and other stickers - I like a clean look, don't you?
Truth be told, my next bike I'll probably go entirely custom. Functionality aside, I'd like to ride an enigma, with no graphics and no recognizable brand... there's something about a bike that's completely yours, from the top down, and not some off-the-shelf dealie.

Agreed. Nothing like a one-off custom ride. This one is showing it's age, and it's seen a few downgrades since I gave it to my wife, but it rides great, and there's only like it in the whole wide world.
