Hey Grumpy, Why did Dizzy alter his horn so the bell pointed up like that? I heard the other day that Wynton Marsalis used a bell from one keyed trumpet with the horn of another key. Why?

every time I played with Wynton he was using a regular Bb trumpet, although some of them were fancy Monette models. I assume if he wanted to play Concertos on a C trumpet and use his Monette, he could get removable bell sections.
The story with Dizzy is he dropped his horn and bent the bell, liked it that way, and subsequently had his horns custom made that way.

I need to try harder with the rollers. I tried them out and spent 15 minutes clinging to a doorframe. This subsequently put me into back spasms. I still almost fell off because I still got bored, stopped paying attention, and started weaving. I haven't been on them since. We set them up in a hallway, and I kept imagining myself flipping over and breaking my arm. I know they're not that hard, but it's something weird and mental about it for me. Being in the hall is claustrophobic, but at the same time I wished the walls were closer. Like a hug machine.
We've discussed getting a fork stand.
I know, I know. I'm a big whiner.

There's no shame in being mature.

Oh, also.
Mr. TS fell off a treadmill at the gym today. He's got a big egg on the back of his head/neck and scraped his arm. He'd dropped his iPod and didn't get his foot in the right place off the track to bend down and pick it up.
His ego is a little bruised.
