I ride pretty much all around Nitro but have only ridden in Nitro a time or two. It's not the most cycling friendly area. I ride on roads around Charleston, Saint Albans, Poca, and Cross lanes on a pretty regular basis.

Does it still smell like someone detonated a chemical WMD there?

Yes. Hence the riding around and not in.

He seems to be pandering to the MTB hippies a bit much in this vintage vid. I think I am losing my man crush.

When I was very young (~1 year) we briefly lived somewhere near there. Once when I was in grade school we drove back through there and the odour was quite strong.

Come to think of it, spending time in that toxic atmosphere when I was in a developmental phase may explain a few things.

*I'm supposed to get a bunch of sessions free as part of the training package, but their system is effed and is charging people. Not a big deal since I'll probably use up all the freebies. I'm not a fan of the rollers we have at home, and buying a cheap trainer seems like a waste... but we don't have $$ to get a good one. So, my plan is to go once a week to the open spin. Once we're not so broke I think we're going to look for a used C'trainer or a Tacx, which we've found for around the same price as a new fluid trainer.

Since the "Snowpocalypse" happened this morning (meh. 4" is more like a "dusting") and the roads have been salted, the road bike wont be going back outside until the first heavy rain in spring.
I did see it. IMO 10 bucks is a reasonable charge for 90 minutes on the computrainer. The 25 bucks I was charged seems a bit high.

Too bad you couldn't draft the other folks riding, that was half of the fun of my session, working together and taking turns at the front.

I think the place I went to does give a discount if you sign up for a bunch of rides, but it's still like 20 bucks/session so I don't think I am going to sign up. I don't mind riding the rollers when the weather prevents real riding.

So what was your final w/kg?? I was kinda happy mine was 2.5 as my teammates were both 2.3....although I suspect for a 90 minute ride 2.5 w/kg is nothing spectacular.

Sort of. The computrainer translates your workout into a video display, you can draft others and it keeps track of your speed, watts, cadence, % grade, etc.

I would still rather ride on the road. But it's an interesting diversion when you can't.

I had a love hate relationship with my computrainer. It was great as far as trainers go but it was still a trainer, so it still sucked. I do wish I hadn't sold it though.

The training sessions where we suffer and get yelled at by a coach, work out to around $20 per session. The package I bought includes 5 free open spins, and 2 anaerobic threshold tests. $20-$25 for just the open spin seems high to me too.

It was enough for me to try to keep up with the couple that were in front of me, and to not get caught by the people behind. I'm just not focused enough to push myself in any way when I ride by myself.

I didn't actually look at my average w/kg, since I've only really focused on the watts, my HR, and cadence. My average watts always come out to embarrassingly low. (I suck at this sport, but that's the point of taking the class, it can only get better.) Most of the men in the group today were around 170-185. The women were from 86-140. I was in the middle-ish.

I'm still trying to figure out how I stay in zone 5 for my HR for 90 minutes though. (Based on my AT test zones) I know I asked about this before, and was told it was probably doing some good, but I keep getting into arguments with the Mr. about him wanting me to be in zone 2/3. Eff me, I'm slow as it is, to get my heart rate that low I have to be barely moving.

It's not even completely covering the grass.

BF is a gold mine of examples for logical fallacies.

I am still attempting to figure out the most common ones, but so far it looks good for:
