Was the setup waterproof? I imagine if the wind capsized it and got the mechanics soaked you'd be F'd.

Yes, the radio box is sealed, but occasionally something still gets wet or a battery dies and you get to chase them in a small boat or run to the opposite shore.

Yes, battery failures can lead to runaways and disasters.

On the trainer today I sustained an average of 190watts @ 17.5mph for 30 minutes.
I felt like I was going to die. Is this normal?

Troll slowtwitch, but you gotta move fast. The good stuff goes within minutes. I bought my SL wheel there and upgraded it to ANT+ myself. It came from a triathlete coach in Canada.
Speed means nothing on a trainer. So was this some sort of stationary bike at the gym? Bike trainer with a power head? Where did the power numbers come from? 10 watts is significant if you are training, so accuracy is paramount. I wouldn't trust a gym setup at all unless it was quality gear like a computrainer.

That depends on what your zones are. What is your threshold?

I do the math once and awhile to delude myself.
I've got to do 45 minutes of tempo in a little while, 215-257 watts. Yippee.....
