So Razor,
I didn't see cadence on your Garmin read out. No sensor?

I'm sure you also know that there is a "post your Garmin Connect ride" thread in the 41. It's very popular. Are you taking a long ride this weekend? Post it up.

Keep your eyes on the bike/tri forums. You'll find used GSC-10's (cadence/speed sensors) and HRM straps on the cheap. I got a second GSC-10 and mount on Amazon for $45 shipped if you want to go new. Just make sure the HRM strap is coded for the Garmin.

With some basic Googling, you can find the GSC 10 for $40 (or slightly under) including tax and shipping.
The heart rate strap gets a little more confusing. At this point, I believe Garmin now has 3 straps that will work with the Edge 500 (and all other Garmin ANT+ units). These are:
1. The original "hard/classic/old school" strap monitor ($35-$45 range)
2. The "current premium" soft strap monitor ($40 and up range)
3. The "latest/new premium" soft strap monitor
The following pictures and text are from DCRainmaker's review of the Garmin Edge 800 at DC Rainmaker Garmin Edge 800 In Depth First Look Review
"Depending on which version you pickup, the unit will either come with the Premium ANT+ Heart Rate Soft Strap, or it’ll require you to pick on up. You can utilize any existing ANT+ strap (such as one from an older Garmin unit), but it does have to be ANT+. Meaning, a strap from a Polar or similar unit won’t work.
Garmin today itself offers two straps – one is the classic strap, and the other is the newer ‘Premium Soft Strap’. However, an even newer premium strap has also been tossed into the mix. This one looks very much like the Polar Wearlink Strap and is oddly enough ‘licensed’ from an unnamed organization. Garmin had no comment on who it was licensed from."
As I said, each of these will work with any of the Garmin ANT+ devices. The only difference may be comfort. The main difference between 1 and 2/3 are that the "premium" straps use a removable transmitter "puck" and the straps themselves are made of a softer fabric, and thus may be more comfortable to wear.

Bikes: Ones with 2 wheels...
Not sure if it is a Cervelo. Maybe VG can chime in. She's a Cervelo expert and is our link to Cervelo Man if we need his input...

The only joint I was resting on was my elbows (hence the carpet burn). How else can it be done?

Couldn't hurt it. I'm just happy that it is one of a kind.

The spokes look like they should glow in the dark.

'Cause labs are cool. They don't need to bark all the damn time.
Besides, they are usually too busy chewing on stuff to bark.
