Nothing a slap hand from bar and whack end of bar won't fix. Those must be the same guys from Toby's Price Chopper alleycat that all had pimped bikes with deep vee's and couldn't even keep up with the 41 year old, tobacco smoking, out of shape mechanic. Less time fronting and more time riding would be my suggestion.

Good one. having spent significant time doing prop work on Tee-Vee commercials I am fairly familiar with what they do to food to make it look good on film. You wouldn't believe what a "Food Stylist" makes.
Most. Wasteful. Industry. EVAR!.

Your too hard on yourself Keith .. you still kick butt .. You know more than anyone else it's not straight up lungs and legs, the mad skills in your possession are age-less proof.

I so want some of that plastic food ... just to be able to leave it places! Bacon and eggs on the ceiling anyone?

Problem is Bell owns everyones lines. Even the ones you get from Teksavvy. My area still doesn't have DSL service period. So rogers, satellite and dialup are your only real options. Rogers is such a ****ing rip off.

P.S Is Brahma beer good? Anyone recommend something new/offbeat to try at the lcbo? - strongbow/sapporo/heneiken/guiness = getting boring.

Seeing the quality of a Cogeco connection at my parents place has restored my faith in cable internet. Why on earth can't we have these industries de-regulated? Rogers are a bunch of ****ers, and I hope Teddy chokes on a jar of dicks.

does anybody know what the courier 'scene' in Toronto is like right now? I'm 17 and thinking of working as a bike courier as a (full time) summer job from June-August (inclusive). Any suggestions?

btw, I have no experience as a courier, but would like to get some.

The food isn't plastic.....just coated/sprayed/mixed/created to look like something it isn't. When you watch a commercial, and they have the product shot at the end, even the container is a hopped up special container. The labels are done up by pro graphics folks to look extra clear and bright. Each "Hero" container...and there are always at least 10.....cost about $500-$1000 each depending on the product. Dog help ya if you put as much as a pin sized mark on it. Reee-diculous.

3 questions.

Are you willing to ride 10 hours a day, every day, in all weather conditions?
Do you know the city really well?
Are you content..at least for the first couple months, to make significantly less than minimum wage?
If you answered no to any of the above find other work.
If you answered yes to all still find other work.
If you are serious send me a P.M. and I will give you some tips.

Was my dream job for a while, food stylist. Nothing like vegi's covered in shellac and blowtorched chicken breast.

It was a fun job...and very profitable....I made $1000 on an 18hr, 1 day shoot once. The downsides are having to lick jerkoff directors arses and the extreme wastefulness I couldn't deal with.

yeah, those are kinda boring, albeit decent. i miss the LCBO...they have a great selection of microbrews and international brews (at least at the bigger locations). just grab a new/different bottle every time! even the beer store has a decent selection.

the hockley valley brew was tasty, though i dunno if it is still available in-store. even better, if you have a chance take a drive/ride to the brewery and have a talk with the brewmaster, andrew...tell him the guy from japan sent you, he should remember me. you can also stop in at peter cellars pub in mono cliffs. nice landscape there, though i suspect there may still be snow.

locally, grab the bike and do a brew tour around t.o. (granite, mill st., steamwhistle, amsterdam, c`est what, great lakes). too bad upper canada has left, since they were very well-located during the last CMWC in t.o!

Bikes: 70s Leader Precision w/Shimano 600 (road), IRO Rob Roy (Fixed)

w00t got my Rob Roy frameset in the mail today - what time is CT open 'til tomorrow Mike? If I have time I'd like to bring my stuff over to be built up (I need the BB/cranks and HS fitting as well as the fork dealing with and looking like some axle spacers for the 132mm dropout) - either that or Saturday I guess.

I'm definitely planning to go to CM tomorrow, see those of you there.

re: ride to Whitby Saturday, plans on hold pending getting my IRO in the shop (that's more a priority). Will post if heading out there.

They're open until 6:00. I thought the point of the 132.5mm dropout was the ability to easily pinch it to 130. No need for spacers, my friend. I regularly pinch a 135mm frame down to 130mm (fully endorsed and warrantied by the manufacturer).

Speaking of beer, I've fallen in love with the diverse local selection on tap at the Victory. Had a couple great pints there last week. Any other pubs with good atmosphere/service AND good local brews? I like to drink the local stuff.

Noooo, I'm trying to get as far as way as possible from that damn industry! Don't bring that crap up out of the ! If you think food stylists are bad try spending a day with an "off-figure apparel stylist" ... way to pin that shirt up on some foam core, dude. Nice.

My legs were definetly not happy but it was fun all the same. Essentially Maki hit the front on young and then those other guys pulled through and never looked back. It was starting to get wreckless and I was following just to stay with the group for people to see us together instead of getting splintered and confusing drivers.

And on the courier front, be prepared for dealing with **** from drivers AND other couriers but if you stick it out and work hard you'll have two legs, two lungs and a really solid farmer/glasses tan!

I don't get the hammer-fest with DSR: isn't DSR pretty casual group riding and some sprints in better weather? Where are these other riders coming from? Are they actually fast or just wreck-less?

I am both fast and reckless.

F*** MASH....this is what I aspire to everytime I ride:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=orIZohIqJDU

And let's be fair guys, a group of 20 casual riders on busy downtown streets at night is probably equally unsafe and more congestive than a bunch of wannabe cowboys* running lights at warp 11.

Just sayin.

Please rebut so I can continue bottled up rants in subsequent posts.

*yes I consider myself a wannabe cowboy

possibly...

`the granite`? https://www.granitebrewery.ca/ admittedly, it is uptown (mt.p & eg) and a somewhat older crowd, but they have a good selection of on-site brews.

i expect you are familiar, `c`est what?` is good with their brews (off-site), but the service has sometimes been slow-ish in the past.

`house on parliament` is a favourite that i miss, but i do not know what is on tap...they used have 2, maybe 3?, black oak (oakville) brews available.

`allen`s` on danforth?

How many riders typically show up for the DSR? Too bad about the 'tude, that sucks.

And for some reason, this little guy was in my clipboard. I don't recall why...
