I first saw the lane today as I had to drive the car downtown, and Eastern is my preferred route.. my reactions were "oh wow, a new bike lane.. that'll be awesome for my commute!", followed by "was that all there is?" I guess it was too much to hope for some buffer space along the ramp that collects DVP traffic.. for now I'll stick to Queen/Dundas.

+1 to that. Eastern is a great route with next to no lights. Too bad it didn't cross the bridge and head downtown. Big thumbs up to Paula Fletcher and co for getting this in.

^^^ +1
Ran into some shop guys and friends with *really* nice rigs at the dirt jumps. Made me cringe looking down at the bold arial Ironhorse blazoned on my downtoob. Then blazing to work I somehow ate **** at high speed (sand? i think sand) and somehow managed to stay standing, while trying to answer my phone, and being laughed at, naturally, at the jumps by the guys who had far nicer bikes than me and were way better jumpers.
I am never wearing hiking shoes to ride again, they are 1) slippery, even on kona wah-wahs. and 2) they are obviously bad juju, and therefore are to be banned from the trail.

Whoever was looking for lycra this is a good deal. A good cleaning if you're squemish, but this is a great deal for Assos bib tights. https://toronto.en.craigslist.ca/tor/bik/779271057.html

e-bike is such a misleading term. I prefer the term "coal or nuclear powered scooter"

Ahoy-hoy-
Do any of you parts-hoarders have a very short (I'm thinking 60mmish) 1" threaded stem to trade for a very long one (120mm I think)? I can trade random other parts too if you need anything in particular.

It's August, almost time for cyclocross to start up again. That got me thinking ...
CAVERNMECH EATS BABIES
SOMNAMBULANT IS A FILTHY, FILTHY *******
SHAPELIKE IS ON THE VERGE OF A ****ING HEART ATTACK
Be there, be there, be there for your local cyclocross series. Support the riders and/or get out and race yourself. Also, provincials are in DOWNTOWN TORONTO this year at Riverdale Park. If you're not all there you suck ass, poorly.

Sweet. I really, really want a cross bike, but since I either built or rebuilt a total of 4 bikes this year alone, my wife would divorce me.
I'm kinda stoked. Since I went back onto shift at the start of June, I have lost over 10lbs, and as of today, my Assos Intermediate jerseys fit me again!

You can ride any kind of bike at any of the local series races EXCEPT the Centennial Park UCI-sanctioned race weekend. I started out on my MTB and had a blast. If you can squeeze CX tires onto a road bike you'd probably be okay on a lot of the courses, too. Especially the two along Bathurst St near the start of the season.

Yeah, I think that's true, I forgot about that. Masters (35+) don't have that problem, nor does the Senior 3/4 category that I raced in. However the senior 3/4 race is only on the Sunday... there isn't an S3/4 on Saturday.

Great race tonight, big turnout with lots of fun along the way. Had the honour of checking out Kyle's geekhouse bike... very drooltastic.
Re: CX downtown? When? I'll be there or otherwise will be a 4-sided shape... RHOMBUS.
