[QUOTE=darkmother]I've got the sram removable link on all 5 of my bikes, including my 2 fixies, and one SS mtb. Never had a problem with any of them, QUOTE]
Yet. I will pass on the slightest chance my chain could fail...but I ride brakeless and a chain failing in NOT an option.

[ cavernmech] Do you have fixies for sale at the shop??

I know where the startpoint is, it's a little tricky.

Edit: Not bringing my krypto lock.

Yep. Both Fuji models...track and track pro, the regular track model is getting thin for sizing. IRO mark V's..altho I only have 1 in stock...expecting more middle of the week. A couple of used frames.

I hear you. It is scary to drop a chain on a fixie, brakes or not. Even if you don't crash, it can really chew the crap out of your equipment.

From my POV, the sram link is well designed and it doesn't worry me even on my brakeless wonder. I hope that my trust is not ill founded. (now I'm really setting myself up aren't I? I predict catastrophic masterlink failure within 20 km)

Damn. I can't stop looking at that frame/build now. DAMN YOUS JEREMYWHITEHORN! DAMN YOUS!

If anyone has a cheap dual pivot front brake they want to get rid of, bring it by Cycle Therapy today and I'll toss you some cash. We don't have any used options here and Ultegra is just a biiit out of my price range.

operator 05-05-06 01:46 PM

Get a tektro? Urbane has em for $35.

Warning stock pads blow on those. Ok i'm leaving now. Hope I don't have any inattentive drivers today.

TRaffic Jammer 05-05-06 01:47 PM

you are master of your own domain my friend, don;t give them that power.

I have a spare one that came off the back of my urbanite. Does that work? :)

Girl on fixie = bike boy magnet.

Thus I have learned in the past 5 months. Just now, riding home and waiting for the light, a guy comes through the intersection on a Fuji track, gives me a "hey there pretty lady" look, and pulls a showy fishtailing skid. Not that I'm getting big headed. I'm pretty sure if we gave Eyefloater a blonde wig with pigtails and got him to ride his new Pake around downtown for awhile, he could score 5 numbers in under an hour.

Well, since I posted about spotting you within an hour and got branded a stalker, I'm going to have to agree with you. heheheh. In all honesty though I think "anyone on a fixie = anyone-else-on-a-fixie magnet"... or perhaps "fixie = interest". I've never talked to so many strangers on the street since I started riding fixed last year. Both other fixed riders as well as just curious people. Not to deflate your head. hahahaha. Being a girl obviously ups the ante though, that's for certain. :D

32flavours 05-05-06 02:16 PM

Haha, as noted, my head isn't getting big, since I know it's all about the bike.

cavit8 05-05-06 02:18 PM

So to rebut to your earlier comment, "No, your bike doesn't make your ass look fat."

ps. I'm sure my face was probably pretty funny when you "caught" me posting my spotting. hehehe..

1) Open mouth.
2) Insert foot.

^^^I'm good at that one. I do it regularly.

pps. I just got a phone call from cavernmech. *swoon* ;)

Don't you mean "re-butt"?

ba-dum-dum

32flavours 05-05-06 02:21 PM

There is no emoticon to express what my eyebrows are doing right now.

eyefloater 05-05-06 02:25 PM

Ok, first off I look ****ing awesome in drag so I could totally pull 5 numbers in an hour no problem regardless of what bike I'm on. Honestly.

Second, the basement of Cycle Therapy is now littered w/ Rubino skid marks. I can't wait to get off work today and unleash Spastic Fantastic on the streets of Toronto. ;)
