I went to the doctor today, also. I thought it was just going to be a simple follow-up but it seems that I'm still being treated for things found during my accident last July 31st.

Two items to be checked are a brain MRI for some medical stuff I didn't understand and an ultrasound of my lower aorta which also may have an aneurysm like up in the arch.

While my doc was listening to my lungs, she noticed a couple spots on my arm that she said were pre-cancerous so she removed them. I told her I had a spot near the outside of my eye and she said it was suspicious, too, but I'd have to see a specialist.

I give up. Doctors suck, no offense Datlas.

I do tend toward being the grumpy old man, however. I'll just leave it there.

Is he positive? because sometimes we're not so sure.

I didn't know they were on the menu.

I can't read "carbon" without saying "crabon" in my head. Even in a non-cycling context.

True. But when they end up here, that's usually it.

They're always on the menu. The secret is knowing how to order.

Maybe not in central Illinois. Should be easy to find meth though. And, on the subject, I've been watching docus on cycling races from the 60s and 70s. Their take on doping is that the dope simply makes the rider not feel pain, so he rides himself to exhaustion. Literally passes out and crashes. Has to be carried off.

RIP Tom Simpson. Victim of that era's "doping".

Was Tom doping, or just driven?

The local hillbillies have moved away from meth to heroin because it's become so cheap.

Second part, amphetamines were used a lot before the modern age so they could race day in and day out instead of like today where racers pick and choose their races more carefully.

Doping is as old as bicycle racing. I had a book that had a pic showing racers sharing a bottle of some doping concoction on the line in full view of spectators, judges, etc.

That's a bit harsh. maybe just from his logbook.

They did, but they don't any more. Yup, I'm a high roller.

Bought one of these too for a second stand. Really surprised at how sturdy it is for $30.

They apparently found empty packages of amphetamines in his jersey pockets, and a combination of alcohol/amphetamines in his blood. That plus Ventoux in the heat = high likelihood of heart failure.

Heroin has made a resurgence here. A lot more college kids using than before.

Doc got bored at about 90% of max heart rate on the stress test. And had to have the perfunctory Doppler ultrasound exam of my carotids due to the noises he always hears. Still no blockages showing up in the branches that feed the brain. I'm glad he's thorough though.
