I'm loving the 29x2.6, but now I have a nasty rock chip on the seatstay (that will be replaced under warranty soon anyways). So I'm having my doubts... but feel, speed, etc... OMG they good.

I guess if it comes to that I could put a 2.4" on the rear, but I really don't want to. I'd probably shave the knobs on the 2.6 first.

These were all on long rides (70+ miles), so they were not going fast like they do on the weeknight rides. That's the key. Wait until they're going slow, then POUNCE!

Actually, all three of those times were terrible mistakes on my part, and were a prelude to terrible second halves of rides for me.

When you know that within a minute and thirty into the ride that you've made a horrible mistake... I was like, yup, nope, over reached with this one. Luckily there were a few others that wanted to ride a touch slower. I've gotta bring up a legitimate facebook acct and start uploading some rides. Less drinking - more riding - I'm moving in the right direction (this week anyhow).

I'm waiting until the fall for road bike deals from Mike right?

I try to refrain from calling out bad medical management, but there really is no role in checking uric acid for suspected acute gout. Trust me on this one.

Here is a citation, in case you want evidence: Uric Acid Levels During Acute Gout Attacks - NEJM Journal Watch

Yeah, when they start announcing the 2018 models is a good time to strike.

I always thought it was the stupidest slogan in the world. Then in 2006 I did the Bon Ton Roulet, which is a week long supported tour in the Finger Lakes region. On the penultimate day we rode through Ithaca, right past the a store filled with "Ithaca is Gorges" souvenirs. I nearly blew a bolt.

Yep, that's what I'm telling you. Don't get s lot of news about Ithaca down in Houston. And we only spend a couple of days around there when we taste wine. It's all about the wine.

Thanks for all the well wishes and support, you folks.

The session was very positive. I was pretty well read up in advance, but still, of course, I learned some new stuff. Last week I was leaning toward radiation, then after the readings I was leaning toward surgery, now I'm leaning toward radiation again. But I'll give my surgeon his chance to sway me more, you never know. I'll keep you posted . . . not 50+ style, but when it's significant. :)

We're here for you, Bill. :thumb:

How do you diagnose it?

This is epic:

I saw those quite a bit even down in NYC.

We played Psychedelic Shack until the grooves were worn off. Then we got another one and resumed.

The same with Sly and the Family Stone. To this day I'll still play those beats 3 or 4 times a year.

They're why I'm hard of hearing now. :roflmao2:

I know, right? You gotta take them with a couple grains of salt. But there's also online advice from reputable sources. Then we always got datlas, too. :thumb:

It was a great time to be alive, and aware, and participatory in the historic movements. The music just went hand in hand with it.

Definitive diagnosis involves looking at joint fluid under a microscope for uric acid crystals. But you can be pretty sure it's gout most of the time by talking to the patient and doing a good exam. If it's red, hot, and very tender at the joint where big toe meets the foot (the first MTP joint), it's very likely gout.

You know, I think that I'm going to go ahead and blame Puck for the current resident of 1600 Pennsylvania, too - his dysfunction really kicked up the popularity The Real World, which turned Reality TV in to a thing, which eventually spawned crap like The Apprentice. Thanks, Puck. :notamused:

This photo from the college days comes to mind, entitled "Friday Night". This was EVERY Friday night.

Where I came from you had to be fly when you went out BITD, unlike today. And there was nothing fly-er than an alpaca sweater with mohair slacks, Texas heat be damned.
