Cool Rowan! I hope you and Machka have a grand time. Love me some Vancouver Island. I was only there once, but we raced at Western Speedway, and we were fast. Two day show, but there was a day between, so there was alcohol involved, in a major way.

I can vouch for the nasty soil in the area where jtaylorxxx is. We went to the inaugural race at Texas Motor Speedway, and it started raining during Thursday qualifications. The parking lot was dirt (clay), and by the time we got to the rental, we had about a 6 inch buildup of that crap on our shoes. Getting it off was quite the chore.

Okieday, I'm off to ride bikes now. Got a lot of catching up to do.

[EDIT: Son of a *****, I forgot to strava my damn mower ride this morning... sorry to disappoint y'all].

I did end up getting 100 Euros from my Dutch friend. That way we have the option to skip ATM at the airport and take a taxi into town. The kids will be cranky after the flight (even though it's nonstop) so skipping one queue may be priceless.

I felt bad, though. He gave me the Euros and said I was now his domestique. He fell back on an early climb so I waited for him at the top and pulled him back to the group. The pace was a bit fast so he turned off the course right after that.

Yup, TMS is very close, just at the other end of the lake the trails are on.

Nice pic of you and the rugrat. They tell me the best part about being a grandparent is handing the child back to the parents when you've had enough fun for the day.

Without a doubt.

And it's wonderful to be back in Canada, even if it's only for a month. Looking forward to doing some cycling, including a 200 randonnee on Vancouver Island, and a 100 on Canada Day.

We'll be renting a car on Monday to trundle around the Okanagan Valley looking at some employment opportunities some time in the next 18 months to two years, then popping across to Alberta to visit friends in Red Deer. I am really looking forward to Van Isle, though... we plan to drive up to Port Hardy right at the northern end, spend a night or so at Campbell River, which for some reason fascinates me, as well as doing the 200km ride.

Looking forward to some shots in the weekly cycling report thread.:thumb:

I'm a Headsweat fan, too.

If it's good enough for Houston humidity, it's got to be good enough for corn country. :thumb:

You could have retorted that they are already carbon-steel wheels.

JDs are good. We have them at work... three functional Gators, and a small tractor with front bucket. You know a farmer is serious here when they have JD gear working their property.

Gators are good.

However, much as I love JD riding mowers (and Gators), for actual real farm tractors, Fords are better. I speak with some authority on this, and the JD in question is much newer than the old Fords which will not die and are much nicer to use.

The dman things are probably as old as the Sheriff and just keep working perfectly (as long as you smack them with a hammer occasionally).

They give you a lot of food, no wonder some of you guys are too fat for this sport.

A Chipotle burrito (which is now off-limits for other reasons) is like halfway to filling up me. Or AG. I'm still a little too fat for my sport (172.2lbs as of this morning), but she very much is not.

I never understood the jokes about the size of Chipotle burritos; they're just about perfect to take the edge off during a bunch of errands until I can get home and have MOAR FOOD.

And y'all wonder why I want so much food storage...

Ran in to my seasonal neighbor - the one that rides for the same shop as ViceLord. We're going to get out for some rides. Never knew his last name, but now I do. Google tells me that he's a Cat2 - ha ha, he's going to have fun waiting for me.

Honestly? They're probably old than you. I'm not sure how old they are, but they're old.

And you're a grandpa now. That does sorta mean you're available for some old man jokes. Hang on, I think I actually have pics of one of them...

Yeah that's even older than Robert.

Yeah. Because I moved to Boulder nearly a decade ago.

Now I feel old...

My grandfather had an old Ford tractor (like a real one with a bucket on front and giant attachments on the rear) on his farm. It *may* still be there, running. I'll let you know next week when I visit my g'ma on the farm in S'sota.
