Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

My Greyhound would NEVER do that!!

Unless he was offered snacks. Then he'd go with them like they were old friends.

I rode on my new Kickr Snap today. VERY first impression is "Wow, that flywheel makes a HUGE difference!" Even with no added resistance it takes work to get going, then it really is like a bike on the road - pause for a moment and it keeps rolling for quite a while.

Then I ran into a problem - either the Spindown would reach zero and never complete, OR no matter how fast I went it wouldn't switch from "Waiting for correct speed" to "performing spindown". I think I must have spun it up to 24 mph at least 8 times. Finally looked it up on line, and so I quit Zwift, and pulled the Ant Stick out of the computer. THEN it worked, first time.

So, then I spent an hour riding around Watopia on Zwift. I have to get used to it changing the resistance to match the terrain, because all my 'trainer instincts' have me switching gears in the wrong direction. I haven't tried a workout in Erg mode yet. That should be interesting.....

Erg mode is merciless. Try at your own peril.

Doesn't feel good, but it's the most efficient way to train and you'll see big benefits when you get back out on the road. Just keep your performance expectations low.

Hey genejockey if not aware, be sure to use Zwift Companion app (different from Zwift app, it’s blue not orange) on your smartphone. Do it now and thank me later.

I should be riding now but my friends wanted a later start to allow temps to rise. I think they all need a big dose of HTFU but I will concede this time.

I'm confident it's just her youth , she's only 20 months old and hasn't developed that defensive, possessive nature for the car as much as she has for the property. Hell, there are Yorkies more scary than her. How many times have you walked by a car with some ****zu threatening to rip your ankle off?

If ****zu were a full size dog, it would be outlawed, and Pits would be considered lapdogs in comparison. That goes for many of the mini-type breeds....

Just checked the weather forecast and it looks like rain most of the time that I am home. I am so close to 5k for the year going to be really bummed if I don’t get there.

My running theory is that little dogs are ******g maniacs because owners let them get away with **** because they're small and they think that the impotent fury is somewhere between amusing and harmless; that all feeds in to a toilet bowl swirl of megalomania and you've eventually got a figurative rabid dog on your hands (damn it, I told myself I'd avoid P&R topics).

And while a lot of people are very dumb, most at least have the sense to understand that bigger dogs can be dangerous if completely unchecked, and will at least make some kind of effort to correct them.

IOW, it all comes back to the owners.

I think that's only partially true. Many of these smaller breeds were bred to be hunters and seek out rats, rabbits and other nuisance critters. They were bred for the killer instinct. A 12 inch Jack Russel is a fearless killer. I've seen Daschunds ranked as the No. 1 most aggressive dog breed . . . I think Heathpack still hasn't completely forgiven me for mentioning that here once before.
