Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Agree. I have not heard it this season so don’t mind hearing it, for old time’s sake.

What color bar tape? I'm thinking black since the saddle is black and seems a bit out of place without anything to match it, maybe if I find a yellow Turbo or Flite I'll go with yellow. Don't want to do white. Any other suggestions?

Only regretted one sale so far - practically gave away a set of 584x32 tires that would be perfect on the above track bike and will cost about $80 to replace

Either black or yellow, probably black if I was doing it.

By the way... HOT!

I'm leaning towards black as well.

Very tempted to try a black/yellow harlequin for 4"-5" on the tops, but I'm wondering if it would look too cheesy. I think harlequin wraps look a lot better when the contrast isn't so drastic.

And thank you, I'm loving it too

I like tape with peek-through color - subtle, but it's there. Tape that transitions could be cool, too.

Yeah, not a fan of cork, either.

Specialized used to make their classic bar tape in two colors, main color with contrasting colored holes. A black with subtle yellow dots would work on the above posted machine.

Ahhh... WhyFi beat me to it. We even both used the same description... subtle.

Trek/Bontrager makes a couple types of tape with peek-through, now. GrippyTack (I think that's the name) is awesome and my current favorite tape.

My buddy suggested the Cinelli Caleido tape which I like a lot, but I'm missing a few of the colors in the tape on the frame. The ST decal is a Merckx headshot in a world champs colored diamond. If only that tape didn't have the pink and orange in it...

I'm surprised the headshot decal isn't on the head tube, also. There was a lot of that in the '70s.

That tape in in WC colors would be pretty cool.

I've never looked at that tape in person, though - are the colors distinct for each hole or do you get some transitions? Not wanting to see transitions is nit-picking, I know, but I'm dumb enough for something little like that to be off-putting (for my personal purchase and use - it would look great on the bikes of others )

Good point, I see some holes that have two colors coming through. I'd want each hole to be a single color as well.
