Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Welp I had great plans to wash cars Monday after Sunday's forecast rain but our weather outlook includes a couple more days rain now...

Main club has 7 (!) rides on the schedule for tomorrow. Only 1 person responded with a maybe on 1 ride.

Have you tried oiling the spoke nipples?
Sigh, I have this fear of taking it apart and it turning to dust in my hands. I’ll check the chain ring bolts, quick release on the rear wheel is brand new. It’s prolly the coupling.

It’s 25F out. My usual friends insist on doing a short 2 hour gravel ride. I don’t really like short OR gravel. My club has only one ride today, my plan is to ride along their route backwards and find them, and do most of their ride before turning back to ride home.

I think the Zwift option has turned many cyclists into weather wimps.

If I was in your area I would ride with you in the cold. Of course we would have to be back by my 630 am curfew or I turn into a pumpkin.

Guilty as charged. My peeps tend to do gravel when it’s cold, but that means charging in a paceline along a heavily used, dead flat, MUP and terrorizing the many innocent taxpayers trying to find a little peace there or, worse yet, driving to a neighboring state which was actually part of the Confederacy! Not my thing and anyway I have fenders on my cross bike.

Cocainado - a tornado hits a smuggler's stash and sends a white swirl of cocaine across a city. People flock to it to claim it, and the wildlife goes bonkers.

Could probably knock out a script tomorrow.

We are lucky in that there is an area nearby that has LOTS of true gravel roads, some are quite hilly. My gravel oriented friends are much better than me on the more technical sections, and I don’t want them to have to wait for me in the cold. The paved roads beckon. Time to get ready to ride!!

I suck on anything remotely technical too.

I bought a gravel bike a couple years ago and the few times that I rode gravel, I kept thinking how much it was going to hurt if I fell.

Sold it.
