Oh, an autopilot remote is a great thing and can keep you warm and dry under the dodger while all hell breaks loose back at the wheel or allow you to un-**** something on the bow in traffic. But why not let me do it with my phone?

The point of a 7 is not that it's classic. It's that it's light, handles really well, and is fun. It's got the least amount of extraneous stuff beyond that. It would absolutely suck as a daily driver literally anywhere. And at the low end of the Caterham range, it's not even remotely fast. OTOH, where can you drive a C8 Corvette Z06 at more than maybe 50% or less of its capability?

My Dodge sounds nice. I was thinking about getting a Cat Back exhaust system to enhance the sound, but then I read something that dissuaded me - mostly, you can't hear it in the car. That made it seem like a lot of money to waste on everyone else.

Caterhams and Atoms are purely weekend tows that are a blast at the track or on the Tail of the Dragon.

It's not worth it to rattle your neighbor's coffee cups at 7:00 in the morning?

The thing about the lesser Caterhams, or old MGs and such, is that they don't need a track. The Atom, IIRC, is a lot more powerful, as are the higher priced Caterhams, so they'd definitely be track cars, but if you lived in an area with twisty back roads, the low-end Caterham would be a blast.

The C6 with automatic and naturally aspirated engine is a lot more comfortable as a daily driver and has more room for larger drivers.

That's what I like about the Dodge. It's very comfortable, it rides nice, it is easy to drive in traffic and other situations where you want it to be civilized, but it also has a lot of power if I want it. And I paid under $30K for it. I don't know that I'd appreciate a $100K car $70K more.

I personally think that fake miles should not show up on the leaderboard, but apparently they do. IDK how the system decides.

True. One of the things I liked about my Cayman was that it was powerful enough at about 350hp to have fun on local country roads, but not so powerful that it was useless. My last two cars had more than 500hp, and they were so powerful that you could not really drive them in a fun way without getting yourself in a heap of trouble.

Minivan #1 went for over $30k in 2001. It was pretty fancy though. Auto sliding doors, it beeped at you if you were about to back in to something, it told you gas mileage, range, direction, temp, etc. I reckon $300 for it in 2016 was a pretty good deal.
Minivan #2 is bare bones, have to open those sliding doors with my bare hands! But it does have fog lamps (I had moved them along with the bumper cover over to Minivan #1 while Minivan #1 was the main Minivan.)

While a hot Audi wagon would be lovely, I've been driving Ford Explorers since 2006. For my needs as a dad hauling kids and their gear, the Explorer has been an excellent choice for my needs. That said, with a change in lifestyle due to grown kids, my next vehicle will probably be different.

Yup. That's how Dad transports his bike. These days, he just leaves his bike in the car between rides.

One of my coworkers bought a TR6 that had been sitting in a neighbor's driveway for years. Still in good working condition, unrestored, etc, but not being driven.
That was a year ago. I asked him about it the other day. He said he's thinking of selling it, because it's been sitting in his driveway, not being driven...

I drive less than 5K miles per year since retiring, most of my driving is to ride starts. The Trailblazer hauls bikes inside and can carry anything I want to carry but gas mileage isn't great. Had it for 9 years and paid $2750 for it. I don't know what I would replace it with. I thought about buying an old station wagon and fixing it the way I want it. Or maybe a compact SUV. Maybe another pick up, I've had 5 pick ups.
I saw a 2 door 4WD S10 Blazer with a bad engine for sale for $950. I could do something like that. Probably won't, though.

I used to think if I had it to do all over again, I might buy either a Chrysler 300 or a Dodge Charger. They're essentially the same as the Challenger, but with 4 doors. Although you CAN fit 4 largish adults (TOB is 6', TYB is 6'2") in the Challenger, it's not that easy to get into the back.
But the last couple years, I mostly have the back seats down, because I carry a bike way more often than I carry more than one passenger.
