Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I spent the last 4 days, 12 hours plus each, checking on the elderly customers in areas where the electricity was out. Ice storms knocked out 100s of thousands of customers here. Today I have returned to my normal work duties.
An Ironic twist; Yesterday while I was out checking on the well being of our elderly customers. A recorded thank you from our CEO was texted to all employees who threw in to help out and get the job done. Except one. Some days I don't know why I still come here.

And In bike related content. Last Thursday, getting ready to Zwift with the rest of the suspects. My almost new Tickr X, decided it was done. One of the snaps on the strap broke off the rivet. I contacted Amazon. Who informed me I had a 1 year manufacturers warranty. And yesterday received a brand new Tickr X. Complete unit. Even though I told him (wahoo agent) I only needed a strap. It'll get its metal tested tonight.

I think the Zwift option has turned many cyclists into weather wimps.
Counterpoint: The Zwift option has turned many "Old Guys Who Get Fat In The Winter" into year-round cyclists.

Maybe he's going to thank you in person?

Counter-counterpoint: An icky weather ride is more enjoyable than an indoor trainer session.

SF Bay Area content: It looks like there's a time window of not wet this afternoon, starting around 1:30. I plan to be out there.

Kudos on helping the elderly in your frozen hellscape.

How's that? Much better than a text message.

I think my Sunday ride was the maximum degree of ickiness at which I'd agree with this. And even a 4 hr Zwift session would not leave me with a road grit covered bike to wash.

The sun is currently shining in Brisbane, at the bottom of Mt San Bruno. The pavement may even be drying. But I have work.

We're four and a half feet below the historical average, so far. Gonna need a big storm to catch up.

I will say, however, that I wouldn't mind ditching the pull-starter for push button.

Okay, experts. The bleed bolts on all 4 of my brake reservoirs are over tightened or frozen and I’m certain I’m going to round off the hex sockets if I honk on them. Heat? Penetrating oil? Mystic incantations?

Try hammering a torx head wrench into it?

put a little valve lapping compound on the wrench. It'll provide extra friction. And make sure it's a newish/good condition wrench.
