tbf, Tesla has supposedly begun deliveries as of this afternoon. At this point, I suspect a lot of the bloom is off the rose for many people who ever considered buying anything from Elmo.

I read somewhere that Musk's "genius" is that he does stuff on the cheap, which works sometimes ("Oooo! A giant iPad instead of an instrument panel! How futuristic!") and not others, like not including radar in the self-driving cars, so they hit pedestrians and try to go under tractor trailers, or not putting any flame tunnels on the launch pads for his rockets so the rockets get pummeled by bits of concrete thrown up by the blast and the whole thing ends up blowing up.
