I rode MTB's for years prior to switching to road but, I really didn't do much tech stuff, downhill or singletrack. I've ridden four RTA BigRides which are run mostly on sealed bitumen and dirt roads, on a C_dale rigid. This and my road fitness would maybe help some with endurance but I would probably be walking difficult downhill sections. I'm looking at it more as a social fun ride, not a race in any way at all and I have no qualms about quitting if it gets too tough. :)

well get that from B&S bike and do some training, see you there !

and suspension is overrated anyway :D

Ok, a few days ago it was a page about BMX, now you're all getting ready to do the DW 100? It's wrong I tell you, all wrong! I could never corrupt you guys this much when I wanted to, now it's happening without me.

And we should be heading out tomorrow.

Result in the pursuit wasn't as glamorous as it looked on paper. Left loads of time on the track, with everyone having plenty left in the tank at the finish. We shoulda had nothing left.

But the start was excellent, run was smooth throughtout, and on sched for 1500m. Not bad I guess, given that it was our first full-distance run together as a team. Maybe we'll get around to doing some training next year. :D

Which one of my bikes do you reckon would be best? I was thinking of the blue gitane, but then I could roll up on the raceline and enter the singlespeed cat. :p

i was thinking more of your daughters pink number, complete with streamers and basket?

jock 02-19-06 05:14 PM

Ahem, referring to someone's daughter's pink number could land you in a bit of pain and suffering. You might wanna rephrase that! Especially as there are no streamers, and definitely no basket...

... not since i nicked 'em to put on my bike!

climbo 02-19-06 05:41 PM

so what are the "paper" results? How'd the other team go?

only if your depraved enough to make that connection in the first place! so do you find the basket usefull for all those in ride snacks? is this the secret you used to get you through the alpine challenge?

3:48 for us. Our target was 3:36, and we probably should have done sub 3:40.

2:42 for the 5+ team who placed 6th, only a whisker outside a bronze ride off time.

climbo 02-19-06 05:59 PM

ah well, there's always next year...

jock 02-19-06 06:18 PM

Yup. Good foundation laid this year, so hopefully two teams next year and training from start of the season.

You'll be an old codger next year won't you?

climbo 02-19-06 06:47 PM

nope

So what was the winning time and by which team?? :D

I heard that some records were set.

jock 02-19-06 07:19 PM

3:28, didn't see who by. Sydney City? Some old codgers I guess.

I had reckoned on a few teams going close to 3:30 from what I'd seen over the last couple of weeks, but only two got near that. Looked like the rest targetted last year's time of 3:36.

Out to Utah, from California. If you guys want to have a laugh, the post code is 84003. Weatherman says it will be -1 tomorrow, with a low of -11.

jock 02-19-06 08:20 PM

You posted those temps in celsius, right? If their Farenheit you're in for some serious coldness

Bugger.

Nah, not when you've got me in the field. I'll be riding around down the back giving all those who are doing it a bit tough someone to ride with. ;)

Thylacine 02-19-06 09:00 PM

I need a fahrenheit to celcius widget.

Oh, and someone else to do these bloomin' bike tech drawings. Man AutoCAD is a crap program. *grumble*

Thanks fellas... felt the pain and just kept going :D

Hey Odin, is this up the 1/20 (on any map as Mt Dandenong Tourist Rd from the Basin up to Sassafras)?

You have one already. Type www.google.com.au, then enter "-1F in C" to see a rediculously cold temperature

I'll be doing every track event + the crit. I expect to be thoroughly spanked, but I need a yardstick and event experience. Might make top 1000 in the 750mITT. Yay.

Wot about you? States + Nats in both in Sydney within the space of a month. Nat RR up central coast way. You couldn't miss it, could you?
