Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

i doubt it was a 109, i think there are only 1 or 2 left and as far as i know one lives in the USA, the other in the UK. unless of course some Kiwi has gone and built one up

much more likley somthing like a mustang or a hurricane, even a spitfire.

eh, dunno. Maybe if I can get under 90kg by then.

Good old Dunlop Rd; I did my first ever criterium there in 1987. I don't think we even needed a license back then

Nah, it wasn't a Mustang or Spitfire, and I'm only assuming it was a 109. It was painted up in WWII Luftwaffe livery. It had a much lower revving engine than a Mustang or Spitfire if that's any help.

There was a historic war plane air show recently in the South Island (Warbirds over Wanaka,) so it may even be a visiting plane doing the rounds in NZ as I haven't seen it before here in Tauranga.

Looking at the Warbirds web site it may have been a Messerschmitt Bf-108 Taifun, but the pictured plane doesn't quite look like what I saw yesterday.

Went to the nag races with some friends yesterday and found out the girlfriends of one of my friends had just got implants. It was completely bizzare as they were both offering me feels all day. You got to do what you got to do I guess.

[edit] Congrats Paul. Now to see how you go raising someone other than yourself.

Congrats pshaw on the new addition. I reckon I've got two years respite before the hassling gets serious.

Jasus!

On the boobie front, I'm a natural guy. There's nothing worse than a woman with fake hair, fake tan, fake boobies. Only purpose they serve is for something to laugh at (or look at naked picture of on the internet, then laugh at again).

Bikes: 8 bikes - one for each day of the week!

Let's end the booby discussion before it goes someplace we shouldn't be going. Not that you guys haven't already crossed that line.

Ill be at calga on the 6th May for the RR. Will probably stay up the coast at the holiday house and do the TT on sunday on the way home.

tempted to have a hit out there next weekend as well, but dont want to compromise myself for WSMTB XC on sunday.

Probably the best thing to do is call the shops that sell race stuff in the areas you wanna ride.
Most of the groups are organized through high-end shops.

What side of town are you on?

there's also this sub-forum:
https://www.cyclingforums.com/f126-au...w-zealand.html (check out the thread about rides leaving from Kennedy's shop) which is a part of this forum: https://www.cyclingforums.com/ This forum also contains the 'Aus Cafe' usenet forum, which takes a couple of days to register for, but that's where most of the Melbournians hang out.

Bikes: Wilier, Alchemy, Merida MTB,

On holidays at the moment and was cleaning out the cupboard when I came across my first cycling shoes. Thought they might bring back a few memories for ed073 or others?

Bikes: Wilier, Alchemy, Merida MTB,

^^ Yeah, what 531 said. The higher end bike shops are usually a good place to make enquiries. Mascot Cycles in Richmond has a ride down Beach Rd every Sat morning at 7am (I think) from the shop. This is a pretty relaxed ride and a good one to start with when getting into group rides.
