Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

For mine the Tour has been completely stuffed yet again. I can't see Vinny posing any real threat now, all the behind the scenes crap, pressure, and doubt will have taken its toll. Good luck to Alan Davis though, hope he has a solid couple of weeks.

well, in the cycling news article it states that the others on the list will not be starting. thats Ullrich, Basso, Heras, Servilla, Mancebo, Mechov + many more, 22 of 58 names listed are tour starters. Jock hows your road form? looks like you may get a start!

Id say Vino is not the only one feeling the heat behind the scenes. If he is allowed to start then it looks like it could be the discovery boys vs Cadel Vs Boonen, wouldnt that be wierd to see him take out a GC....

Not quite. It blurts out the riders that the spanish press have implicated. That doesn't mean they're not riding.

And my road form is just great.... so long as there are no hills to climb. Wondered why I'd opted for a winter season of track instead of running with the plodders!

Several sources indicate that the official information on the 58 (or 56) riders implicated in the scandal will be available by Friday, June 30, at 9.30am European time, when the Spanish judge will release the investigation documents, already believed to have been handed out to the Spanish minister for Sport, Jaime Lissavetzky. Of those named, a total of 22 cyclists are rumoured to be on the Tour de France start list. "Those riders named in the dossier will not be allowed to start," said Patrick Lefévère, president of the professional team's association AIGCP and manager of team Quick.Step.

didn't see any tv cameras, just stills, but someone had the big tripod, so maybe, I'll have to watch world sports to see....

I just don't see how they can legally stop anyone from racing yet, there's got to be proof, and convictions first, surely? Being a coded name on a list leaked by media is surely not enough? I'd be wanting DNA tests on bags of blood, etc.

I'll be wearing my best green PJs each night to stay up and watch the cycling, cheering on Thor and his favoured kiwi lead out man in the sprint stages. Go the green jersey for the Norwegian green giant.

Spraking of S&M, there was a strange CSI episode on last night with a chick in a bondage outfit strapped upside down to the front of a car for a late night thrill. It all went horribly wrong and she ended up being the buffer between car and tree

Bad news about your back ed. Is that an old cycling injury catching up with you or have you been lifting too many heavy weights?
