Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

If you want weirdos, try hanging out on the BBC food forums, they are having a real problem with some absolute nutters at the moment. So much so, that they have removed the "reply with quote" option from their site and the police are apparently also involved.

Must be something in the water over there sending the Poms off their trolleys.

Bikes: 2006 Trek 5200, Avanti Corsa Pro, Giant Yukon, Ricardo Cro-Mo, 1992 Mongoose pro-comp, 1980 DiamondBack senior pro, 1980 Quicksilver... half a dozen other BMX bikes in various stages of completion.

Yeah, it'd be nice to have 'em back. Kids these days are missing out.

Was it here that I read about NZ being for sale on eBay?

Damn. I was having flashbacks to when I was a kid. The last one down my neck of the woods closed in the late 90's. It was one of only a few left in Victoria.

Which was that? We used to go to Wantirna, Croydon and Rowville... oh and Grantville. Gawd it was fun being a P plater in the 80's Those were the days.
I saw a sign near the old Rowville one the other day saying there's one at Dandenong now.

Grantville had a drive in? There's bugger all down there.

Moe was the nearest drive in to me. The old Traralgon one had been closed for years before I started running amok.

Check this link out!!!!! https://www.driveinmovie.com/Australia/#VIC

Not like the old days when nearly every town had a drive in. I'd better double check if Moe is still open.

My first post, so may as well make it useful...

Clarence St seems to be having a birthday sale from this Thursday to Monday. 15-50% off everything, apparently, if you didn't know ( for details - https://www.cyclery.com.au )

As long as no-one buys up the last Tourmalet in stock after reading this, I'll be happy - because by the time the week is through I plan to have my first road bike.

I'm a lurker and may become more permanent - time will tell. But thanks all for the informative threads.

Welcome Maxim,

But jaysus, it's the middle of the week and some of us have to work!!!! Dun be neaking up in the wee hours with your first ever post on TAT, we're all likely to be drunk or asleep or both.

Sorry to hear we've been informative. It goes against every thing we sit on our lazy arses for.

Please buy a Ti Tephra off Thylo. He needs at least one customer from TAT before he dies.

It seems like everyone is trying to sell parts or all of New Zealand, one of the best one I have seen was an auction for the Foreshore and Seabed after the gummint passed some legislation protecting the same from private ownership. Bidding got up into the billions before it closed, but the questions and answers are shriekingly funny.

Maxim, welcome.

Firstly, ignore everything jock says. Secondly, retail is for looooseherrrrrzzzzz. Finally, royale already owns two Thylacines and he's here sometimes - albeit not a regular slacker like the rest of us - but that's okay, the pressure is off.

As for TAT? Well, I'm largely responsible for this ruckus, so that's rewards enough.

BWahaha, that 'forshore and seabed Q&A' is a cracker!

anyone get hit riding in Woy Woy today? My daughter's music teacher turned up today a nervous wreck after she hit some bloke at a roundabout this morning on the way to the class. He's OK she said and gave him her details etc... He was pretty angry at first but calmed down and was cool about it.
