If I were to upgrade to full C forks I'd need C stem and bars too. That'd work out at roughly twice the price of a new bike.

LBS. I have to believe his wisdom, for I know nothing about carbon. I considered posing the question on Bikeforums, but it would have been too hard to sort through all the BS, flame wars, and conflicting arguments

*Message may contain BS but no flame war intended. Conflicting arguments to follow.

Finally, for a dodgy auction, click on the "Email to a friend" and send it to rswebform@ebay.com. You can add the au if it's on ebayAU, but they usually take forever, and the auction will be over for days before any action gets taken.

Why do u need a carbon stem Jock?
Our local club president has a spanking new Giant TCR Advanced (the kind with the integrated seat post that you trim to size) that has been recalled to replace the standard carbon stem with an Aluminium one after some poor bugger in Oz had the original stem break in a fairly major (and painful) fashion. I can only assume the fork has a full carbon steerer given the rest of the bling on the bike. As an aside he has made a couple of minor upgrades such as replacing the DA brakes with Zero Gravity jobs ($$$$$$$$$!!!)

having said that, the carbon forks on my race bike survived a hefty prang on a pick-a-plank bridge today. they survived much to my surprise, i on the other hand did not. broken collarbone and dislocated pinky (40deg off center, very creepy!!). so i guess the road season is a write off even before it starts. back to crit and track training once i'm mended. yay, no more hills

Sorry to hear it, hope you mend up quick and well.
I have found (depending how bad???) that a broken collarbone is around 3-4 weeks to a ride on the road again and about 2 weeks more until you forget it happened ( adding in variables for bmx or mountain biking). Best of luck.

You have my sympathy Jock, I've done that one myself in the past. Like bmx boy says, four weeks and you should be back on the bike, with the first two weeks being a solid diet of painkillers.
You could have left the pinky in its new position, but you'd have to switch from drinking beer to cocktails with umbrellas

I had a really nice 2hr ride today. For those who know Newcastle I toured the beaches (went up Watt street), glebe road, Rode out to Whitebridge, then went home via Bar Beach. Lots and lots of people out. The jaguar rally was stopped at Bar Beach. Some really really pretty classics there. Lucky I had my phone camera on me. (excuse the crapiness of the photos.)

That was probably the best looking car there. XK150 are beautiful

There were a few E-types there.

and does anyone know what this one is?
There were a lot of jags there but I only took pictures of the classics.
Thats my ride report for this Easter Monday
