That F14 is the fastest 14ft cat in the world....... except for mine. :D I guess you need to like sailing :o What prog. did it run on for you? How's the new bike? |
I downloaded that VLC one Gabe & jock were on about from here
Worked like a charm. Haven't got the new bike yet (next week sometime), just put the old one on eBay last night. Yeah, I've never sailed so I wouldn't know one from the other. |
Yep, that works. Made more sence to me the way you said it :) I have the DVD. I thought it might be something different. Pretty full-on sport. Great fun. I just fitted a spinnaker to my 14 and I'm planning on sailing tomorrow to sort the thing out. Can't wait. :D

I think if your not in there as a junior, competing at an international level you don't really have much chance. I finished school in 88 or 89 and went straight to the USA to do sport, I was 16 the first trip overseas. Kept going OS until I was 24 or so, good fun, good way to see the world, just not much future for "pro sport guy that never quite made it", earning enough money to just keep going got boring after a few years. |
Good game of footy on at the moment. Swans up after doggies ran their lead down early in the second qtr. Both teams playing cracker games in slippery conditions
|
so how was the racing up at calga today? tomorrow im racing out at arcadia XC, which is probably the most technical ( and IMHO farkin dangerous in some parts) XC course in the state. should be fun :D

Hey while we're all choking on coal-fired power station pollutants, lets get all frisky about nuclear power. Wow, I'm excited. Harrisburg, Chernobyl, Nagasaki, Hiroshima.
Will we ever get rid of this totalitarian fuhrer who's only supreme abilities are in the arts of lying and deception? Luckily for us his understudy is worse |
not that purchasing nuclear power would have anything to do with providing US coproration millions of aus dollars to build such plants would it ;)
|
lets face facts in the next few weeks Johnny will do his (in)famous backflip and we will have Nuclear power. I hate but we are stuck with it.
Read in the SMH that the mining industry had a hand in scuttling the wind farm in Vic that was rejected because of the endangered bird. Face it we are screwed. |
I built a fence today.
That is all. |

I ended up going to see Maurice to get the back wheel straughtened out. (glad I did, I have no idea when it comes to wheels) Its first time he charged me GST, I guess its that time of year again, he also had it done on time which was a huge surprise. |
The adjustable stem is a great idea on a new bike though. If you get into the habit of stretching, you will be able to gradually lower the stem. Once you settle on the proper rise, you can swap it for a fixed one. It's a good thing to start with.
|
Its pretty much zero degrees now. Can you go for a negative rise? Can you buy stems that are a negative rise?
But I agree with you |

Negative rise on your mtbs? Really?
|
yes really! only very slight negative rise. thats the sem anyways, i run risers, so it works out to have a very slight rise over all. have spent a fair bit of time working on MTB setup and its what seems to work for me...
|
Negative rise?? Something's wrong with that picture.
Wouldn't you just run a flipped stem (0 deg) and then shorten the steerer tube. If you don't want to shorten the steerer tube you can just move the stem down the steerer tube leaving spacers above it. Like this http://www.bikesportmichigan.com/rev...headtubelg.jpg (sorry couldn't find a zero degree pic in a hurry, but illustrates dropping the stem nicely). Creates a nice nut-catcher effect if you hav a lot of spacers on top. :) |
just so were on the same page of the book, maybee my terminaology is bad ( woldnt be the 1st time ive been confused about bike setup)
i have a stem that is flipped on both bikes. both these stems when flipped drop the bars lower than they would be (just slightly) than if it was at no rise / fall. does that makes sence? maybee its not netagive rise after all? :: edit :: belay that, i jsut had a look at a picture of the front of the cannondale and its at 0 degrees. yes people, im an idiot. |
Yeah, most road stems are -10, most mtb stems +5 to +10, and 0 degrees is where the stem forms a 90degree angle from the steerer tube.
|
Hey matagi, how was your metric century? Top day for it
|
I got a -17 road stem, makes the stem parallel to the ground if you have a 73 HT angle. My MTB is in the -10 range, is that weird?
|
We had 25 degrees on top of the 67 I showed for Newcastle. Not a good day to be putting up fences and mowing lawns.
As far as stems go - always best to leave a little stack height to play with. Negative rise on a MTB doesn't sound right though, even for XC. |
