Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

The BB contestants definitely represent the lowest common denominator as you say. I was watching Rove last week (or the week before) and the evictee being interviewed couldn't put a coherent sentence together. In fact I was having trouble working out just how much of what she was saying represented words from the English language.

Hit the nail on the head, HDT. Lowest common denominator crap where people should laugh along until someone gets hurt. Then we should laugh more!

Heck, the only time I ever watched the crap was during the 'Up Late/Uncut' show! I mean, if you're going to watch idiots be idiots, you may as well have boobies to distract you from the drivel coming out of their mouths. I mean, I couldn't understand what half of them were saying anyway, so once you take away the witty repartee, what's left? Boobies.

---

Ah yes, beer commentary. My current top 5 in no particular order-

1) Hargreaves Hill Pale Ale
2) James Squire Pilsner
3) Scharers Lager
4) Monteiths Pilsner
5) Wanaka Beerworks Cadrona

Hrm....looks like I have some serious hunting down to do. Lot of newies to try in this list -

Bikes: Trek 5200 and 8000

I flicked over to BB one night and some dumb BIATCh was sitting there saying..."You know what, I'm really hot, even if I don't have make up on I'm still really hot to look at".

Lasted about 10 seconds till I switched back to the ABC.

I suppose the one bonus of being a Coldie drinker is that no-one is going to pinch your beers form the fridge..

And as opposed to some bogan Frankston watering hole I went to the Mountain Goat brewery last Friday nite....definitely a different kind of decor...and no CUB product on tap either....

"I bet she looks hot in latex" Definitely looks like she knows how to party. Not having watched the doco, I'm struggling to see how you get nerdy.

Looks like I'm driving to Melbourne tomorrow to plumb a mate's new restaurant in Richmond. Might as well chuck a bike on top of the tools. Any decent non-hammerfest group rides on the weekend for a fairly out of form bloke?
Wattsy, your chance to have at me in person for my 'scum' comment

Yep, any group ride I'm in is guaranteed to not be a hammerfest.

If you are in Richmond try the Mascot Cycles ride. 7am Saturdays from the shop in Bridge Road. Fairly easy pace if I recall

I'm quite happy to do around three hours and get out of the city if possible. That one qualify?

there's millions of them on the weekends -- I suggest ringing around a few of the shops.

Bikes: Wilier, Alchemy, Merida MTB,

Yeah, as far as I remember its about 2.5 to 3 hours, depending on which turnaround point you use. (Some of the group turn at Black Rock, some go on to Mordialloc i think. Doesn't really "get out of the city" rather it follows the bayside suburbs along the infamous "Beach Rd" - favourite haunt of 531 and wattsy and 000's of other dudes. It's a basically flat ride & will probably have a headwind one direction.

bbw asked for a ride that wasn't a hammerfest - hence my suggestion of the Mascot ride. And coz he mentioned Richmond. I suppose it depends on where he will be staying too.

Sunday at 7.30am from Bikelife in Hawthorn/Auburn goes up into the Dandenongs at a reasonable pace if you don't want to ride flat roads

Dunno much. Only had a couple of dealings with Peter early on when I was doing my full susser. He wanted to charge me 'retail' for Easton tubing, so I said 'no thanks' and bought it in the US. Not a huge fan of a builder being a sole distributor for a particular brand of raw material. It's kinda anti-competitive.

Don't know much about about the Teschner/Leggera thing either. I think it might be some Product Manager leveraging the Teschner name to create some kind of 'superbrand'. Peter provided the name and the designs, someone else uses their connections in Asia to make some tupperware bikes.

That's my impression, but I could be way off-base.

Thanks for your input Thylo. I think what i'm seeing tonight will probably be the "tupperware" that you refer to.

There's always the Hell Ride (7am Sat at the clock tower in Black Rock) if you want a little pain. Massive pack + high speed. Plenty of tosser hanger-ons too......

I like boobies. And that is not all.

How fast is the hell ride? If it gets above 45kph for too long I'll get dropped. Gourd, 7am. Now I remember why I don't do many group rides.
