Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I don't believe in 'just being a road builder' anyway - I think every type of cycling informs the rest and makes for a better widget. 1 1/8th Aheadsets on roadbikes anyone? Everyone?

Easton just bought out Velomax and slapped their stickers on them as far as I can assertain. If you need new wheels, I can get cracking deals on Zipp and Reynolds - both of which are better IMHO - and I can also do handbuilts pretty reasonably too. Don't get sucked into the Ksyrium vortex whatever you do.
Yeah, fair call on not naming your competitors....and you have explained to me why the Easton wheels all had velomax hubs anyway - thanks.

But it's too late...the Ksyrium vortex has already got me .....they came with the bike I will however keep in mind your name for Zipps, Reynolds or custom wheels should the need arise. mmmmZipps...

yeah....sprinting up the Ventoux onto his wheel.

Notice how when he got on, he sat back in the saddle to make it look like it was no effort....crafty.

Bikes: a few

buy a standard 5 bolt crankset and you can get chainrings from other places (QBP), rather than going in the Shimano Proprietary chainring design rollercoaster.

FWIW, i need new chainrings for my 2003 XT drivetrain and thought at the prices Torpedo7 list the 2006 XTR cranks at I should upgarde. Hence 2007 XTR's are out of price range (and I dont like them)
IMHO The 06 stuff sheets on the 07 for asthetics!
Back to der drawing board...
Why not some 06 XT cranks? i have them and i think they are the shiznit.

Bikes: '06 Trek Madone SL 5.2 / '04 Trek 1000

Hey guys, sorry to do this to you, but I have a serious question about bikes

Since getting a new frame, after crashing, whenever I take my hands off the bars, I have to lean way left to stop the bike from tracking right. It's a madone SL frame, so I doubt it's not straigt. I've just tried a new headset, but that wasn't it. I'll be trying a different front wheel tomorrow.

Does anyone have any ideas, it's driving me crazy.

not as much as the wheels !

you don't need cork pads anyway, I use std pads on mine, plus, you can get Kool Stop and Zipp pads that are made for carbon wheels also. One set of pads should last a while if you only race on them.

The seat and post came straight off the old frame and onto the new one. Looks straight to me.
I'll try the saddle of my other bike after the front wheel though, just to be sure.

were they the new ones or the Spline style BB models? the older style can regularly be found for 250, but is probably worse than what you allready have!

I want a set of 172.5's for the hard tail, but will probably just get LX... one day....

If you're anything like me, try distributing half of your family size bag of Jelly snakes into the left hand pocket of your Jersey.

Unfortunately it's not that. Doesn't matter if I have full pockets, empty pockets, or a backpack on

SBS is showing "Hell on Wheels" at 11:30pm on Monday July 10th (which is a TdF rest day). Program those VCRs - unless you're a nightowl.

Is the front wheel 'square' to the bars?

Mothers Nature jam topped Muesli bars and Jelly Snakes. Bannanas for the road (I dont like squashing them when i go OTB on the MTB )

FWIW, Dont put the snakes directly into your pocket...I got a beaut snake stain on one of my jerseys from the Highland fling. The sun melted them into the material. Still it's a handy emergency reserve

for trecking around on the MTB / Road bike, just some museli bars and a GU or 2. im not into bananas, cant stand the squishiness, 1 2/3 mix of endura and 2 bottles of water (mtb) ( i dont like the bladder system for my camel back so just pack bottled into there instead.) or 1 extra bottle for road

for racing- Pre race 1 sustagen. in race: one endura mixed at 2/3 concentration, other bottles are plain water if i need them. 1 GU in each pocket ( 3) so i can be sure on reaching one of them. used to tape them to the frame but not game to do that to the cannondale....

For a long ride one bidon of water, one bidon of 1/2 strength staminade, banana, growling dog bar. Usually have a pitstop around 90kays to take on cold water, OJ, and something solid like a muffin or a pack of chips. Weet-bix within 20mins of finishing.
