When he broke it he did a good job. The bike was only about 200km old, and he hadn't got around to trimming the top off the steerer tube. Looked crazy. Took the derailleur, hanger, and lug insert off in single sweet moment of madness. Also sheared both sides of big Jim Moore's front forks off about halfway up with the inevitable results. Jim's still pickin bits of Calga out of his arms, legs, butt, head......

Hi Blokes. Seasons greetings. I need to buy some bike stuff(tyres etc) and was hoping to get some web sites. Please help.
Also I went for a ride last Sat'dy morning and was overtaken by the Hell Ride. Farrk are those guys fast! It was like being overtaken by a freight train, but more scarrier. I tried to sit on the back but was quickly dropped off as they were riding at 53kph. The boys were also playing nicely as they had a Police escort front and rear.

I'll second probikekit, I just bought an ultegra chain, a 105 cassette and a michelin pro race tyre from them for NZD$145 incl. shipping. That's about 1/2 local retail.

I bought a 20mm Supersonic for 40 bucks in a bargain bin. It's just ok; nothing special, but VERY light (155g)

I also got a barely used 23mm Schwalbe Stelvio Light (slick) for nothing coz some dude in Black Rock, just to amuse himself, wanted new tyres on his bike. It weighs about 190g, and it ain't too bad, but is a little 'balloony', and now measures about 25mm on the vernier

Ok, Aus nationals is almost on us, and this is the first major race of the 2006 season.
Who will wear the aesthetically most awful jersey in the peloton, especially when white shorts are teamed with the jersey.
Here is a wrap.
my favourites for 2006.
Gerrans
Walker
Crake,
Bates
Brooks
Kemps
Mclachlan
Outsiders
Davis
Cooke
I doubt these riders will go into the red to win. Bigger things await in te one day races on the continent
Mcewen,
think he will be marked, and require Gates, Sanderson and Evans to do dirty work to keep him in contention. It seemed he was holding a bit in reserve at the bay crits. His hamstring is progressing well. He should be looking at San Remo, not Adelaide hills.
Ogrady
Roberts,
not sure if they will be riding, or in a CSC camp somewhere in the m.East, N. Africa. Actually Roberts is here and riding, but OG si not I think. Might be Europe training camp.
Mcgee,
will be doing shorter efforts for 400ip Commonwealth Games. Won't go into the red.
Karl Menzies is a show, he might struggle with the length and parcours. Might.
Matt White. Could win. Depends on his preparation. Doubt he will be on the tour squad for Disco, more likely riding a spring classics/Vuelta campaign. So he could be in form at this stage. Won't be riding the TDU, not sure what influence this is the week before.
Matt Wilson. Might. is always on song for nationals. He came about 13th in San Remo in 2002, so the man has the legs for the classics.
Evans. Nope.
Vogels, nup
Gates. outsider.
Oneil. mark him down for the tt.
Rogers, don't thinnk he will be riding. Nor Davis bother Scott.
Lancaster Brown. Won't handle the parcours.
Hayman. Outside chance. Will be peaking for the classics.
Dawson, nope.
Day, outside chance, may win tt.
Van Hout, same, may win tt.
Milostic, put him down for a bridesmaid in the tt.
making up the numbers,
Chadwick, Glennan, McPartland, Sweet, Hopkins, Gono, H Clarke, T Wilson, Hutchinson, Woolridge, England, Renshaw, Sulzberger, Betts, Humbert, Mann,
Under 23
Clarke simon. good chance, aggressive at bay crits,
Johnno Clarke. maybe. The climbing might see him off v the others
Sanderson, nope.
Sulzberger, outside chance
Goss, outside chance
Meadley, maybe
Sutton, maybe
Hatton, chance.
Rex, nope.
Lowe, doubt he will ride.
Hatton, chance.
Walker, yep.
Jamieson. nope.
Lloyd. decent chance.
Ben Johnson. could be, if he makes the cut of date. Actually I think his pro status disqualifies him. Agritubel this year.
Kemps, disqualified as a pro.

You've just about name the whole field! I'll bet my house against $1 Gates doesn't win.
He's just coming back from a broken leg!
Vogels looked to be going ok in the QLD crit series recently. Cooke seems to be going ok as well.

magnificent synopsis, Chunder!!!
McEwen to back up. Can win from any group....even on 1 and 1/2 legs. We saw what he did with a broken back at the Tour.
Matty Lloyd to continue his stellar rise and snag U23.
