I saw the Overcoming doco yesterday folks.
Worth checking out, gives a good insight into the CSC team. And Riis has a physically, very big head
they made one mistake, said NZer's and Australians were involved in CSC. Dean left for Credit Agricole in 2004, and Sunderland and Roberts did not join until 2005. The film encompassed the 2004 season.

Matt White. Could win. Depends on his preparation. Doubt he will be on the tour squad for Disco, more likely riding a spring classics/Vuelta campaign. So he could be in form at this stage. Won't be riding the TDU, not sure what influence this is the week before.

Also Luke roberts was on a Ciombola tt machine, which is made by the Trak cycles guy in Melbourne. They have a shop at Southland and one other, but I think the custom's are a different selling practice.IE no need for retail forum.
Wonder if he has his CSC machines in Europe and or he had to give em back, or he prefers the Ciombola.

Sorry I missed the ride fellas but a 4am start from here was always going to be a big ask for me and as I race (sailboat) Satdyarvo I would have needed be home by 10am which made it pretty much an impossibility. I would have loved to hook up with y'all. 
We"ll have to organise something around the C/Coast which would be more doable 4 me.

Did a new name get decided on for Expat? Was Brother Pat ever looked at seeing as he is off to Mormon territory?
Just got back from my own farewell Expat ride. A 2 1/2 hour MTB ride starting with a 900m vertical slog (7.9km 4WD track) up Mt Te Aroha, then a quick descent followed by some fun single track and then coffees and an enormous plate of bacon and eggs. I hope you enjoyed it as much as Team KOK (King of the Kaimais) did Brother Pat.

Walker won the race but is ineligible to wear the jersey, well, the senior jersey. He can wear the jersey in espoirs races, which is ironic, because he won't be able to wear it in races like Tour of Normandy and Tour de l'Avenir, both races RababonakT3 (espoirs) will ride.

Ooops...I missed this about the Ciombola.
Roberts has a deal where he's allowed to ride the bikes when he's in Australia, and, as you'd expect, "Mr Ciombola" says Roberts prefers these bikes.
Last I heard was that he sold the shop and had moved back to Adelaide to have a bit of a break.
I nearly bought one before I got the Cervelo Superprodigy. The Ciombolas VERY sexy bikes; the pictures on the website (site not working) didn't do them justice at all. The attention to detail can't be faulted.
The guy is a fanatic. He said likes to "interview" a customer for about 3 hours before he builds the frame, mostly (obviously) to find what they really want, but also to find out if the cutomer is worthy of one of his bikes.
After i mispronounced the name (oops -- my first mistake), we didn't get off to a good start, then, with me being a bit short of cash, I asked if I could buy just a frame and chuck "any old fork in it that I had lying around at home". Well, I think he wanted to punch me. He started shaking his head, saying: "no, no, why would I do that? I just can't do that. I build a frame around a specific fork. No, no, no." Then he virtually ushered me out of the shop. I knew then that I was not worthy

He seems to REALLY care about his bikes, and probably gets a bit upset when others don't share his "passion"

The only riders who could stay with him in that field are the elite pros anyhow. He has too much class for most of the field.
He has bigger things in store. Mcewen said in a few years he will be Australia's best ever road cyclist. Best Ever.
Melbourne to Warrnambool win at 18. Bay Crits win just turned 17. 5th in world junior timetrial when he was in the lower months of that year, ie, just turned 17 on the UCI age group cut-off calendar. 6th in Tour de l'Avenir as a 19 year old. Third in a stage of l'Avenir. He is a keeper.
Arguably an in form Vogels, would have been the only rider in the lead groupd who could have gone with Walker. But he did not cover him, and he did not know he was ineligible for the jersey.
