Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Bikes: 8 bikes - one for each day of the week!

Dogs can be had at Woolies and Coles. I think Woolies are 10 cents less.

It took an hour at a slack pace, but I fit it into one box. If we do use it for travelling, I'll swap the fork and get some Q/R cable connectors. Probably cut the packing time in half.

Still find it amazing it comes apart like that. What keeps it together normally? I can't see any collars? I also would have though that making the join closer to the lazy buggers seat up the front (half way) would have made the packed up bike smaller?

But yeah, packing up things I love (or worse chucking them out if I don't need them anymore) when moving always makes me real sad.

They live in the protein bar and suppliments area that no-one ever goes to. Just ask the prettiest checkout chick if she can help you find your bar.

We just have vitamin c tablets in that section here. Prettiest checkout chick? Youngest one's about 50 I think. Out here if you want to look at horny young fillies you go to Bunnings. I swear the joint's full of stunners!

Here's a shot of the couplers off the S&S website. Came with a custom titanium spanner too. There are 6 on the frame. The tubes that are sticking out also come off. Basically, that whole section between the seats is removable.

Ah. So it does. I'm blind. So does it flex there?

The tubes with the couplers are actually far stiffer than straight tubing would be. No flex there. But the frame does flex. I can hold the back brake, stand on the cranks real hard, and it will visibly flex. It requires that we spin, rather than mash, but it's a very plush ride.

There are all available at woolies yeah? Nobodies recommending powerbars so I know not to get them. Might have one each of the Dog and enervit bars for dinner tonight to see which one's nicer.

BTW, me and a mate who's doing the Alpine have this strange history where I think for 90% of the organised events we do which involve riding or running, we'll get bucketed on. Good to see we are keeping up our track record.

envervit is only availiable in bike shops, maybe rebel sport as well. Power bars are OK, but hard to chew. not good on the bike food imho.

Like powerbars, the dog is hard to chew on the bike. If you take of a piece of any decent size you may find it difficult to breathe properly: not pleasant. I solve that problem by slicing it into very thin strips and shoving it all into a ziplock.

Most bars will be rock hard in cold conditions and rubbery when its hot.

I went for the protein/carb ratio. It wasn't until later that I read their lies about all the creatine, ATP, EPO, etc that's in it.

thats the adv of the enervit bars, even at normal room temp they are quite soft, they do get a lil melty at the hot end, but nothing too bad.
