Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Still a sprightly young lad then Odin. Surely your history of racing bmx and perhaps motocross would help get some legs under you. Crickets been my main competitive pursuit so I don't think that would cross over so well. Still there's only one way to see how I'll go...

And all the best fellas are. (stupid filter )

Jaysus pshaw, you gotta start taking it easy, man. Ya can't ride when ya dead, ya know.

Completely off-topic : Does anyone have any freight connections? I'm at my wits' end here yet again. Yet again trying to ship a box from the US that's just slightly too big to go via USPS, and yet again FedEx or anyone else I ask is giving me ****ing ludacrous prices.....like, USD375 to ship ****ing 8kgs.

Patty? Anyone? Help?

Tiger, have you tried DHL or EMS? EMS is part of USPS. But as I recall, our tandem weighed about 7kg boxed, and it was in the low $300s. You may have to suck it up. Or try a freight forwarder. Don't you have a contact in the US?

Near work: young kid with dereilleur jammed between cluster, spokes and seat stay. Chain broken. Lug all twisted and unrepairable looking. Somehow he'd pulled the mother of all chain-sucks and ripped his dereilleur clean orf!!!

Kid: "D'ya reckon they'll be able to fix it?"
I wasn't confident.
Kid: "Damn. I had a long ride planned for today"
What could I say? He wasn't going anywhere for a while

I did have, but it dried up (like everything else it seems).

No chance of sucking anything up here I'm afraid. 4 years ago this box cost USD80 bucks, now the best price I've got is US375.

As we so colourfully say here - "**** that for a joke".

Latest information on GF reveals there's a possibility of brain complications which can induce chronic fatigue so be careful Paul. Take it easy and give yourself plenty of rest and recuperation time.

Come on over to Eastern Crk one sunday and do a crit/RR with the Waratahs. Very civilised racing.

Pshaw, or anyone else who knows... what sort of hardware do you need for this? i have an older P3 1GHz lying around, will a DVD burner, large HDD + TV card do the trick? or will i need a P4 multithreading wallet destroyer to do it?
