Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Bugga! Just re-measured the now stripped Bennett frame and it's actually 55x55 not 55x54 as I earlier thought. 54 top tube I can deal with but 55 might be a tad too long. I think I now prefer smaller bikes with taller seat posts and longer stems. They generally have better (for me) seat tube angles.

Who's bagging out on the Ellsworths? Sure, they used to impode on a regular basis (disc tabs sheering the seatstays off, Seat tubes popping like it's New Years....take your pick) but apparently they've got them sorted now. Best of all, they've moved production inhouse which is a brave move when every other sh¡t company is running off to China.

was another of those look at this bike on ebay situations. was a nice enough bike, a bit old though. i know a guy that had one and he had to get ride of it as he kept breaking somtihng in the rear triangle, and speares were expensive and hard to come buy. i think he has a titus of some sort now.

Backup? You need a bomb shelter after that little beauty - I read it to hubby and we both nearly fell off the couch laughing. Interesting to see if they take the bait.

Yeah, the Ellsworths attention to detail have always been amazing, they've just (in the past I'm guessing) been underbuilt in places. If I had to buy an FS bike tomorrow, it would be a tough choice between a Turner and a Maverick. Titus' seem well made though.

Well they've got a hide. Apathy can be a dangerous thing in the hands of amateurs, and is best left to the experts.

Well, that was a bit of a damp firecracker, wasn't it?

Maybe you should start another steel vs ally vs carbon thread, that should bring a few flamethrowers out of the woods.

Or go to "Training and Nutrition" and start bagging low-carb diet junkies and vegans.

Well, I wasn't the one that sold our Carrera GT yesterday. Don't even want to know what you get for selling a $400k+ car.

Here's the kicker. Guy buys himself a Carrera GT, drives it for a month. Hurricane Katrina hits. He feels guilty, as no one should drive a 1/2 million dollar car when people are homeless. So he donated it to his church, which in turn sold it to the dealership, and used the money to aid people displaced by the hurricane. So someone just paid over $400k for a used car. Yeah, the car-free guys won't like me know, but I can make them a deal on a Hummer.
