Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Sooty Park premieres tonight
To hit Australian TV at 8pm on Tuesday night is a new weekly cycling show called Sooty Park. The show has a magazine format, featuring cycling in all forms and disciplines, from commuters to Grand Tour riders, with an emphasis on fashion, fun and the lighter side of cycling.

Sooty Park will also see a return of the rollers competition that used to feature on World of Sport back in the '70s and '80s, although the rollers will be replaced by Computrainers, with digital readouts on screen. Tonight's episode will feature interviews with Phil Anderson, Phil Liggett, a mountain bike trials segment and the Computrainer competition.

For all of you with access to Channel 31, which is only available to Victorians at this time, tune in at 8pm to have a chuckle at a bit of hilarious cycling banter.

That totally looks awesome. I'd be watching that one regularly if it was offered here.

it's a doohickey you stick in your computer which you can plug your tv aerial into and with some software allows you to use your computer as a video recorder.

Ed's been using an Etch A Sketch for a laptop. He's not likely to be installing a TV card soon.

No mirages crankman. Must have blown away in the 35-40 knot winds we got over here on Sunday. They were straight off the desert, so maybe your winds came clear across the whole damn country. We've had some heat over this way for a coupla weeks, and last night they dragged up the global warming issue on the news again.

I reckon the weather patterns are just getting back to how they were 25 years ago. We've even had a few of the old Southerly Busters scream up the coast this summer. Haven't seen them in years.

Not this Saturday for me, organised track stuff instead. Next Saturday (early, for Expat) looks OK tho. Sundays are out for me with racing being on.

anyone had experience of "the boys" getting sore all the god damn time after riding? no matter what knicks, what seat, what seat position, the next day it feels like mark viduka has taken a nice big swing at my goal posts.

It's astounding how this thread sinks to the depths of depravity with such ease.... and frequency.
