Fuji SL-1 Comp w/Shimano 105 set-up. My first road bike as I'm a newbie, hence the Walmart pedals and bottle cage. Only upgrades are the Selle SMP saddle, Sigma comp and upgraded the no-name brake calipers to Shimano 105's. It's plenty of bike for me right now, but that won't stop me from tinkering and upgrading it any chance I can get!!!

I just bought the Wilier 3 weeks ago. Still working on the fit. The stem on both bikes is the same - 100. Do need to have the head tube shortend slighty.

Love my Tarmac. The Wilier is a much more responsive ride. You get out of the saddle, put the power down and it just goes. Nice and stiff in the back compared to the Tarmac. I even had the Zipp 404's pictured on the Wilier on my Tarmac for the last 1.5 years and somehow they roll better on the Wilier. My Tarmac is still my training, rally, crit bike. The Wilier is also a more comfortable long distance ride. I have not done a century on her just yet - but, did an 80 mile run recently and got off the bike feeling good. My Tarmac beats me up a little on a long ride.

My first road bike, a Specialized Comp Mid-Compact. I've truly enjoyed the 300 miles I've gotten out on her since the purchase the first part of July. It's nothing fancy or expensive but she's mine.......such a difference in ride compared to my flat bar giant hybrid.

Its a 48. I'm a bit vertically challenged and hard time finding a bike to fit me.

First road bike: Steel Colnago, Shimano 600/105, chrome fork
Hi there,
I've just bought a new bike on the cheap. I'm a student, so don't have a lot of money at the moment, but really wanted to pick up race cycling. Seeing as I used a lot of information on this forum to inform myself about what I should be looking for in a road bike, I wanted to show my bike to you. It's geared with a mixture of original Shimano 600 and newer Shimano 105. Maybe not all too complimentary to the frame, but maybe I'll restore it to its former glory in the future.
It's not nearly as advanced as the other bikes in this thread, but I've fallen in love with it all the same. It runs like a charm too. I bought it second-handed and went to the LBS for potential repairs. The owner was really enthusiastic about it as well, so he's fixing me up with fitting (mavic) wheels in better condition than the current ones. For the rest the bike was in great condition, so no repairs needed as of yet. The bike cost me 130 euros (173 USD), which for me is a great deal. And because of the toe-clips I don't have to buy special shoes yet. Maybe I'll upgrade to different pedals some day.
Thanks for all the valuable info on the forum! And of course, hats off for these mindblowing bikes you're presenting here.
Kind regards from the Netherlands.

First off, welcome to the forums!
Congratulations on getting a beautiful classic. Colnagos are keepers.
Hmm... You might want to rethink your budget on that. Restoring vintage bikes might end up costing you an arm and a leg.
A classic Italian bike warrants a classic Italian group - Campagnolo!
It's gonna be hard looking for period parts ('90s (?) if I'm not mistaken) on a student's budget. But the fun is in the challenge!
Cheers!

Thanks e_guevara! I'll keep the Campagnolo advice in mind. Here in Holland we are pretty Shimano-minded though.
Surely I won't be undertaking this anytime soon . You say Colnagos are keepers, so maybe in ten/twenty years time I could turn my first ever road bike into a restoration project.

Super nice bike there. But why is the RD cable so incredibly long?
